WNBA fans were outraged Friday night after the league did not air the league debut of Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso with a preseason game for the Chicago Sky against the Minnesota Lynx.

Instead, the WNBA website had a link to broadcast Caitlin Clark’s league debut for the Indiana Fever against the Dallas Wings.

That forced fans to find fan live streams during the match to see Reese and Cardoso’s first professional action.

A such a stream on X peaked at around 260,000 viewers and lasted almost two hours.

Fans expressed their frustrations on social media over the WNBA’s decisions, blaming the league for not being prepared to show both games.

“The WNBA is a huge embarrassment. Not having Angel Reese and (Kamilla Cardoso) games on the league pass is insane. Angel Reese is one of the reasons why women’s basketball gets so much attention, but they’ve made the white girl center, I’m tired of them,” said a fan on X.

‘Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese make their professional debuts in the preseason and no one thought it would be smart to broadcast it anywhere?!?!?! Furthermore, (Teresa Weatherspoon) is making her head coaching debut and still no one in power thought this would be smart?!?!” said another WNBA fan on social media.

“The WNBA was completely unprepared for this moment and it’s a little embarrassing to think that they are not a start-up but have been around for over 20 years. Makes you wonder what else they’ve messed up over the years. That said, as a Hoops fan, I hope they figure it out soon because people are dying for a WNBA moment, but as usual they are their own worst enemy,” said a fan on X.

“The @WNBA is doing Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso so wrong. The competition consists of 80% black women. Why don’t they feature two of the most productive young women to be drafted?! Whiteness put you in a stranglehold. Fire whoever is making these stupid decisions,” another WNBA supporter said on X.

The WNBA is entering an unprecedented era for its league, with many young marketable stars coming in at once, with Clark capturing the lion’s share of the college game’s eyeballs.

Her game was deservedly streamed on the homepage of the WNBA website, but those who wanted to watch Lynx-Sky had nowhere to go.

The reason for Chicago-Minnesota not being streamed is unclear and the league has yet to comment on it.

The Lynx defeated the Sky 92-81, with Reese starting and scoring 13 points and Cardoso adding six points off the bench.
