Fan fury as Shadow and Bone cancelled by Netflix after just two seasons with spin off series also axed
Fans are furious after a hit Netflix show was canceled after just two seasons.
The streaming goliath has decided to pull the plug on Shadow and Bone and its spinoff Six of Crows – even though the scripts are ready to go.
The young adult fiction novel written by Leigh Bardugo was a huge success when it first debuted on Netflix in 2021.
After months of actor and writer strikes, streaming companies are reviewing their output, with Netflix also axing Glamorous, Agent Elvis, Farzar and Captain Fall.
The author of young adult novels Shadow and Bones and Six of Crows took to Instagram yesterday to share the devastating news with her 650,000 followers.

Author Leigh Bardugo is ‘heartbroken and deeply disappointed’ but stressed: ‘Most authors never get to see their work adapted’
Leigh said, “Friends, you’ve probably heard by now that there will be no season 3 for Shadow and Bone and no spinoff of Six of Crows.
‘The news hit hard. I am heartbroken and deeply disappointed, but I am also trying to hold on to my very real gratitude.
‘Most authors never see an adaptation of their work. Many who do end up regretting the experience. I am one of the lucky few who can look at an adjustment with pride and great joy.’
The fantasy novelist thanked her “writers, crew and extraordinary cast who are not only immensely talented, but also genuinely good people.”
Although she was devastated, the author signed her post with “no mourners,” although she said, “I’m going to have a cry, and maybe a drink, and then see where the story takes us.”
Fans have been devastated by the news, with many voicing their dismay on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Netflix canceled Shadow and Bone, I’m canceling my life. [The] The universe is testing me so hard right now. I need Six of Crows,” one fan wrote.
Another chimed in: ‘Shadow and Bone cancelled…No one ever speaks to me again.’
A third commented: ‘Shadow and Bone being canceled when we were about to get the Six of Crows it’s so sick OMG.’
One stunned fan joked: ‘I lost Lockwood & Co and now I lose Shadow & Bone? I’m going to rebel.’
Shadow and Bone, like them, adopted elements from Leigh’s core trilogy of the same name Six of Crows duology.
It takes place in tThe Grisha universe which includes the nations of Ravka, Fjerda, Shu Han, Kerch, Novyi Zem and the Wandering Isle. They all adopt languages and traditions from real world countries.

The cast includes Brighton-born Jessie Mei Li as Alina Starkov, an orphan who discovers she has the rare ability to control light.
Londoner Archie Renaux played Malyen Oretsev, an orphan tracker who was also Alina’s childhood best friend and love interest.
The Shadow and Bone season 2 finale was released on March 16 this year after the show debuted on April 23, 2021.
This will unexpectedly be the final episode, leaving fans with a wild cliffhanger.
