Falcons owner Arthur Blank ‘desperately wants Bill Belichick to be Atlanta’s head coach’ seven years after Patriots epic Super Bowl LI comeback

Atlanta Falcons owner Athur Blank is desperate to hire former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones.

The report also noted that the job is Belichick’s if he wants it, but the 71-year-old coach is still 50/50 on taking the position.

Belichick interviewed for the Falcons’ vacant head coaching position for the first time on Monday before wrapping up his second interview with the team on Friday.

Despite Blank’s apparent desire to land Belichick, the team is still doing their due diligence and exploring other candidates to fill former head coach Arthur Smith’s shoes.

The Falcons also scheduled a second interview for Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh, which will take place next week.

The Falcons will also interview Jim Harbaugh for the position for the second time next week

Harbaugh completed his first interview with Atlanta on Tuesday, just one day after Belichick.

The National Championship winning coach also completed an interview with the Los Angeles Chargers.

The coaching search in Atlanta has yielded news of other big interviews in addition to the two top names in this year’s coaching carousel.

Before Belichick’s second interview was conducted in person, the Falcons also held a virtual meeting with Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn.

Atlanta also interviewed Aaron Glenn and an interview with Mike Vrabel is scheduled for next week

Rob Gronkowski has been all over the ties between the Falcons trying to hire Belichick

Glenn also completed a virtual interview with the Tennessee Titans on Friday.

Atlanta will also interview former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel in person next Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington.

The Falcons also interviewed Buffalo Bills interim offensive coordinator Joe Brady on Saturday.

Even before the news of Blanks’ supposed desperation, Belichick’s former tight end FOX NFL analyst Rob Gronkowski had drunk all the tea when it came to Belichick’s ties to the Falcons, based on his recent comments.

Gronkowski previously reported that the Falcons were “interested” in Belichick and recently referred to the 71-year-old as a “powerhouse” and “still the great Bill Belichick.”
