EXCLUSIVE: Matthew Perry, 54, cuts a casual figure as he steps out in sportswear for low-key outing in LA

Matthew Perry cut a casual figure as he stepped out to run errands in LA on Tuesday.

The Friends actor, 54, who was spotted enjoying a lunch date with a mystery woman last month, wore a sporty ensemble consisting of a navy blue Nike shirt, paired with black cycling shorts, with gray shorts worn over the top.

The star completed his look with a pair of black and white Nike sneakers and some sunglasses.

The Chandler Bing actor wore his graying locks pushed back from his face and carried a reusable cup during his outing.

The TV star celebrated his 54th birthday on August 19 and appears to be in much better health these days, having charted his path to sobriety in his best-selling memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, which was released last November released.

In his book, the Friends star exposed the culmination of his terrible battle with drug and alcohol addiction, which almost cost him his life.

He revealed that his colon ruptured due to his opioid addiction when he was 49.

The doctors gave him only a two percent chance of survival and he was in a coma for two weeks, followed by another month in the hospital.

Perry required fourteen surgeries to repair all the abdominal damage, and he admitted to going to rehab fifteen times over the years in hopes of kicking his drug addiction.

At one point during his Friends career, he admits he was taking 55 Vicodin a day and only losing 128 pounds, but still “he didn’t know how to stop.”

He even revealed that he would go to open houses – not because he was interested in buying real estate, but to see if he could steal drugs from medicine cabinets.

His book also raised some eyebrows when he appeared to have hit Hollywood heartthrob Keanu Reeves.

Perry wondered if actors like Reeves are “still walking among us,” while peers like River Phoenix and Chris Farley had died prematurely.

Perry wrote: “River was a beautiful man inside and out – too beautiful for this world, as it turned out.

‘It always seems to be the really talented guys who go down. Why is it that original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us?’

Perry referenced Reeves for a second time when reflecting on Chris Farley’s fatal overdose in December 1997.

He apologized amid backlash over the comments.
