In a wide-ranging interview with DailyMail.com, Kevin McCarthy commented on his current relationship status with Donald Trump, who he says will easily clinch the Republican nomination for president and ultimately defeat President Biden.
We have a “good relationship,” McCarthy said. ‘The interesting thing is that we have been together for a long time. There are times when we disagree, but we always do that privately.’
‘That is a healthy relationship, in which you can tell each other what you think and what you can do, and we don’t let that come out. It only makes our relationship stronger,” he continued.
The pair’s relationship has gone back and forth over the years, and Trump notably did not come to McCarthy’s aid when eight Republican hardliners tried to oust him from the speakership in October. The former chairman also previously questioned whether Trump is the “strongest” Republican candidate for president.
When asked by DailMail.com whether he plans to formally endorse Trump – or any of the 2024 presidential candidates – he said he would “never” endorse it so early. But he ‘could’ publicly endorse it earlier because Trump is going to win.
“I think I think President Trump is going to win. I think President Trump will be the nominee. I think President Trump is going to win the presidency,” McCarthy said.
“Personally, I believe President Trump is stronger today than he was in 2016. And in my lifetime, no president who has run for re-election has been weaker than Joe Biden.”

He went on to say that Biden, 81, “cannot solve” the biggest problem he has with his own base and the American public: his age.
“He’s losing the demographics of several voters that Democrats would normally produce. If he becomes the Democratic nominee, it will be a big night for Republicans.”
He said that on both a national and international level, choosing Trump over Biden should be a no-brainer for voters in November.
McCarthy, who created the Select Committee on China under Chairman Mike Gallagher, R-Wis., said another critical factor for voters will be Biden’s lack of strength to counter aggression from Chinese, Russian and other foreign adversaries to counteract.
“Contrary to President Trump’s record versus President Biden’s, you have a secure border. You had gas prices in the $2 range. You had Russia not invading anyone. You had North Korea not testing missiles. You had a strong economy. You had no inflation,” he explained.
McCarthy said that since Biden took office, there has been a “new creation of the axis of evil” of nations hostile to the US that has been emboldened.
On China, the Republican said the country has worked aggressively to influence others, including the US, to become dependent on them.
The CCP has “embraced” and further “expanded” North Korea’s growing missile operation, which poses a direct threat to Taiwan and the rest of the Indo-Pacific.
He said this includes Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, the evacuation of some Americans from the US embassy in Lebanon due to an increased threat from the Iranian-backed proxy Hezbollah, the encouragement of terrorist group Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, and Chinese aggression against Taiwan and the influence campaign. .
The Biden administration’s delisting of the Iran-backed Houthis as a terrorist organization was also a strategic failure, the former speaker said.
Iran’s rising prominence is due to Biden’s failure to impose sanctions on their oil, thereby enriching the state known for sponsoring deadly terrorist attacks.
“He’s created this axis of evil now, right? China, Russia, Iran and North Korea.”
Another issue of national security concern is the “wide open” border that allows those on the FBI’s terrorist watch list to enter the U.S., he said. It also allows fentanyl to flow into the country, which is killing Americans at an alarming rate.
‘You don’t have to base it on a (political) party. You want to base it on your children’s future, doing the best to give your children and your country a better option,” he said of why he thinks Trump will win overwhelmingly in 2024.

The Trump administration’s creation of the Abraham Accords to achieve peace in the Middle East was not “embraced” by Biden, McCarthy said.
“But I watched him embrace random others and allow them to get billions of dollars more to finance terrorism and pay for American hostages. So now you have this disruption all over the world. I believe more in peace through strength, and I think history has proven that to be a good thing.”
Under Trump’s leadership, Putin “never invaded another country, North Korea stopped testing, and Iran had become weaker rather than stronger,” he explained simply.
