Ex-influencer Emma Claiir, who came under fire for admission about killing two cats as a child, says she ‘won’t ever’ go public on social media again and loves her new private life

Influencer Emma Claiir has revealed she will never be in the spotlight again after quitting social media over backlash over a story about her killing two cats as a child.

Emma came under fire in April 2023 when she admitted to killing two cats when she was a child, and quit just months later in June amid the social media furor.

After disappearing from the spotlight after being targeted by trolls, Emma resurfaced on Instagram in a video shared by makeup artist Laura Kimber.

In the footage, Emma was smiling from ear to ear as she showed off her glamorous new look after having her make-up done at Kimber Artistry’s studio in Sydney.

Fans quickly flocked to the comments section to beg Emma to return to her life as an influencer, as they admitted they had missed watching her videos.

Emma – who now only has a private Instagram account – dashed fans’ hopes when she revealed she will ‘never’ be in the spotlight again.

Emma said she is now enjoying her private life with her husband Aaron Mugica and their son Jett-Jones.

Replying to a fan, she wrote: ‘Awww sorry love, unfortunately I’ll never be back. I live way too happy and stress-free in my private life.’

A slew of fans sent her supportive messages after she reappeared on Instagram, telling her how much they missed seeing her content.

They wrote: ‘I miss seeing that face on my insta feed, so nice to see her so happy!!’

‘Miss Em and her stories! This looks great! I hope Em is doing well,” another added.

“Just thinking about Em the other day, I miss seeing her content,” one user commented, while another wrote: “Awwww Emma you look amazing. I missed your face.”

Emma was widely criticized and dropped by make-up company MCoBeauty in April last year when she admitted to two incidents of historical animal cruelty.

Just months later, in June, Emma announced she was quitting social media after a series of vicious attacks from ‘haters’ left her feeling unsafe and suicidal.

She revealed she had received ‘death threats’ during the controversy and claimed she was being targeted by online trolls in a ‘witch hunt’.

“As most of you know, I gave birth to the most amazing, precious baby boy on April 12, 2023 and he completely changed my life,” she began her lengthy post.

“I was so excited to share my life with all of you, share where things came from and just be real with my postpartum journey and experiences with my baby.

‘But unfortunately none of that became possible when I shared a story from when I was little on my podcast. I was quickly canceled and the death threats poured in.

‘The story was taken out of proportion and turned into something it never was. People started a witch hunt for me and did everything they could to ensure that my life was destroyed.

‘I lost my job, my mental health was massively affected and people just laughed about it.

“I realized that this was taking me away from my son and that I could no longer be present with him, so I took a short break.”

Emma then accused ‘haters’ of spreading hate and rumors about her life and said she had reached a ‘breaking point’ amid the trolling and started to feel ‘unsafe’.

She continued: I suddenly started feeling unsafe in my own bubble, I started feeling unsafe in my own home, my anxiety went through the roof when I went out in public, I felt constantly violated, the death threats were louder and the lies and rumors also became louder.’

‘People did everything they could to ruin my life. Messaging my friends with nasty messages, messaging brands and companies that followed me with threats, and much more. People dehumanized me every day and made fun of my struggles,” she added.

‘My mental health eventually collapsed. I entered a very dark space that was extremely frightening and unknown.

“I kept telling myself that the only thing that would make this all go away would be if I killed myself.”

The influencer concluded by telling her followers that “the online space can be horrible, fake and harmful whether you have followers or not, so it’s okay, strong and powerful to walk away if you need to.”

Emma was dropped by makeup company MCoBeauty in April 2023 after admitting to two incidents of historical animal cruelty on an episode of her podcast Simply Chaotic.

Three more brands subsequently cut ties with Emma, ​​including vegan makeup company Lust Minerals, which promotes that it does not test its products on animals.

The controversy started when Emma shared a story about accidentally killing two cats as a child when her co-host Kristy Jean asked her to reveal a personal secret.

“I killed my cat,” Emma admitted on her podcast at the time. “I didn’t mean to… I was young, I was a kid.

“I was swinging my cat. I thought it was just a hug. And I accidentally let it go.”

Emma clarified that the animal died ‘from shock’, and not from any injuries from being thrown across the room.

After laughing with her co-host, she added, “I just want to say, I’m giggling about it now, but this happened for years and years and years [ago]. And I was a little kid.”

Emma went on to reveal how she ‘also killed her best friend’s cat’ by accident.
