Smart home brand Eve Energy is apparently working on a new outdoor smart plug that could potentially let you control other devices on the network.
This information comes via a message on the official website Connectivity standards Alalliance (CSA). It consists of a picture of the plug and a brief description of what it can do. The device itself is compact and square in shape and resembles a black cover to protect the sockets. According to the accompanying text, Eve’s plug allows homeowners to control their home’s smart lights and appliances via voice commands or via via the official app. It even tells you how much energy your other devices are using.
CSA’s product page also states that the outdoor plug will be compatible with both the Thread and Matter standards. The former ensures that home network connections work reliably at all times, while the latter protects them from outside forces. Matter also makes it easy to integrate your gadgets with smart home ecosystems like Google Home or Amazon Alexa.
Missing features
That’s pretty much all the information we can get from the CSA post. The rest of the description explains how easy it is to set it up. Below you will find some product details and a link to the conformity document of the outdoor plug. We checked out the document ourselves, but couldn’t find any additional information. It mainly consists of XML files that explain how it can work on a smart home network.
Tech news site NotebookCheck in their report Theorizes that Eve’s upcoming plug could behave similarly to the current indoor model. The outdoor plug could have a calendar scheduling tool plus a child lock function. But again, nothing has been confirmed at this time. There is no information on what other features it will have, how big it will be or its weather resistance. However, if we had to take a wild guess, it could be a rating of IP65 This means it is fully protected against dust and can withstand splash water.
No release date could be found, but considering we have the final design, launch could be right around the corner.
