Eurovision fans have gone crazy now that Olly Alexander has released the video for his entry song Dizzy

As Olly launches into a contemporary dance routine in the eye-catching music video, fans have gone wild for the new single as they deemed it a ‘masterpiece’.

Speaking about the song, Olly explained: ‘I wrote the song with Danny L. Harle last summer, we started with the word ‘Dizzy’ because it just popped into my head and I liked it.

“I was thinking of fun things that could make you dizzy and I remember saying, ‘Dizzy on your pillow,’ so the song is about feeling such an intense rush of emotion for someone that your world goes crazy.” is turned upside down and inside out.’

Olly and Danny were inspired by 80s acts Erasure, Adamski and Pet Shop Boys when writing the ‘magical’ song.

He added: “Danny and I believe that music should transport you to a magical place and we wanted to describe this magical place in the song; a place with beautiful gardens, eternal flowers and time spinning endlessly in an ecstatic loop.

‘We took the feeling of vertigo and put that into the production, so there are lots of undulating arpeggios, lilting harmonies and counter-rhythms in the backing vocals.

“We’re inspired by a lot of ’80s music we love, like Erasure, Adamski and of course Pet Shop Boys.”

The Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Malmö this year, following Sweden’s victory at the 2023 contest with Loreen’s song Tattoo.

Sweden are guaranteed a place in the final thanks to their victory at last year’s competition, alongside the Big Five countries – Great Britain, Spain, Germany, France, Italy – meaning Great Britain will not have to qualify from the semi-finals of the competition and will gain automatic entry into the grand final on Saturday.

(Verse 1)

There’s a place where we break the line (make me)

Make it a circle redefined, mm (Di—)

Beautiful gardens, everlasting flowers (make me di-)

You know the way, so take me there

(Chorus)

Won’t you make me dizzy with your kisses?

Will you take my hand and spin me around?

‘Round and round until the moment never ends? Mm

Will you take my hand and spin me around?

Take me back to the beginning (again)
