Eric Adams is smuggled into Colombia on a ‘vanity tour’ through South and Central America to deter illegal migrants

  • Big Apple Mayor Eric Adams was attacked by protesters during the last stop of his Latin America tour
  • Adams had planned to tell migrants not to come to the city during his trip, changing his tone on immigration from a year ago

New York City Mayor Eric Adams was stopped as he toured a Colombian port town where many migrants begin their journey to the United States.

“Shame on you Eric Adams,” a protester is heard on video during the mayor’s Saturday tour of Necocli.

“This will increase the amount of violence against migrants across the United States,” the heckler said.

Adams began his tour of Latin America by telling migrants that New York City was “at capacity” and that they “won’t get five-star hotels if they come to the Big Apple.”

Others gathered to protest the mayor during his last stop. One sign read: ‘Go back to New Jersey when you hate creeping migrants.’

Mayor Eric Adams toured Necocli in northern Colombia on Saturday, concluding his vanity tour of South America.

Adams was confronted by protesters during his visit. One person shouted: ‘Shame on you Eric Adams’, another person held a sign that said: ‘Go back to New Jersey when you hate migrant creeps’

Adams concluded his ‘vanity tour’ of South and Central America, calling for the right to work for migrants in the US.

“If you look at Colombia, they have really shown how to absorb individuals into their societies, and one of the most important ways to do that is to allow people to work,” Adams told reporters in Necocli.

“Nothing is more human and nothing is more American than your right to work, and we believe it’s a right we need to expand.”

The mayor said he was given a “true analysis” of the Darién Gap by Colombian officials and law enforcement as part of his “fact-finding” mission, according to the New York Post.

“It’s a real learning experience of how Colombia has really shown a direction that we can all benefit from by analyzing what they’re doing and how we can grow on what they’re doing to show the humanity they deserve,” Adams said .

According to Panama’s National Immigration Service, more than 200,000 Venezuelans have crossed the Darien Gap this year on their way to the United States.

During his stop in Ecuador, the mayor met migrants in a family shelter and stopped short of telling them not to come to the city.

The Big Apple is struggling to keep up with the massive influx of migrants that has overwhelmed its asylum system and strained financial resources.

The estimated cost of accommodating them is expected to tip $4.7 billion. The staggering cost is equal to the city’s sanitation, fire and parks budgets combined.

In August, hundreds of migrants slept while waiting for placement at the Roosevelt Hotel intake center in New York

In August 2022, Adams welcomed migrants brought in from Texas at the Port Authority and said he was proud that New York was a sanctuary state

After his stop in Mexico, the mayor said: ‘Our hearts are endless, but our resources are not. We do not want to put people in communal shelters. We don’t want people to think they will be employed.’

The Democrat took a change of tone with migrants in his city. In 2022, Adams welcomed migrants who arrived on buses sent from Texas

“As the mayor of New York, I have to provide services to families that are here, and that’s what we’re going to do – our responsibility as a city, and I’m proud to be a right-to-shelter state, and we “Going to keep doing it,” he said at the time.

On Tuesday, Adams asked a judge to suspend the right to asylum law as he struggles to house more than 122,000 migrants who have flooded the city since last year.
