Byron Bay influencer Ruby Tuesday Matthews was criticized Friday for complaining she couldn’t drop off her bags after arriving late at the airport for a flight.
Ruby, 29, shared a series of Instagram stories from the terminal, showing off her luggage and insisting she was only “two minutes late” to drop off her luggage.
The model said she had already checked in for the flight but couldn’t believe the airport staff refused to hand over her luggage while she was traveling with her children.
Ruby has made headlines for her airport travels before, and in 2020, she held up a delayed Jetstar flight when she indulged in oysters at a fancy restaurant — then complained when she was harassed by frustrated passengers.
“Two minutes late for baggage drop and they wouldn’t let us drop off our bags. Our flight hasn’t boarded or departed, but we’re not boarding it even though we checked in,” she began her stories.

“You let someone traveling with two kids just check in three minutes late, but whatever. Especially if the airport is an ant airport.’
“Oh and for the record, we already checked in, we just had to drop our luggage. Update we have been moved to the next flight for free by the hostess who is very nice,” she added.
However, Ruby drew the ire of social media users on Friday after an influencer’s sleuth account called Influencer Updates Au reposted her stories.

Journalist Melissa Hoyer wrote under it, “Umm. You leave a little earlier. And put the phone down for a second. It is not that hard.’
‘It’s not hard to get there on time, it’s your own fault. Everyone knows things take extra time with kids, so she should have been more prepared. Seems like a hair problem tbh x,” added one user.
An airline employee commented, “Work for an airline and no! The bags take 25 minutes to be screened and to get off a plane, so that slows things down and costs an airline a lot of money. That’s why the baggage drop-off closes at -30 before departure of a domestic flight.’
Another added: “Traveling alone with children does not entitle you to extra time to check in. Flights have a schedule for a reason, and there is a closing time for luggage for a reason.’
However, one follower spoke up for Ruby, saying that if it had happened to a mom who wasn’t an influencer, they wouldn’t get the “titled tag” and people would “pity” them.

In October 2020, Ruby came under fire after she held up a delayed Jetstar flight while indulging in oysters at a fancy restaurant – and complained when she was harassed by frustrated passengers.
She was supposed to fly from Byron Bay to Sydney in the afternoon, but a technical problem delayed the flight.
Jetstar asked travelers to stay at the airport while an engineer flew over from the Gold Coast and told passengers the new departure time would likely be around 7:30pm that evening.

Ruby and her traveling companion decided to leave the airport to grab a bite to eat at a beachfront restaurant while others ate at the airport.
The mother-of-two later posted a video to Instagram of her eating oysters with a friend, captioning it: “Flight delayed, f*** my life.”
She left frustrated passengers waiting on the tarmac, who harassed her as she boarded 30 minutes after the plane was due to take off.
Video footage shows passengers shouting “how were the oysters” and “what a day to be beautiful” as they boarded the plane.
As the pair enjoyed their meal, those at the airport were informed that the engineer had arrived earlier than expected and the flight would board at 6:20pm instead.
But passengers were forced to sit on the tarmac as Jetstar attempted to track down a group of missing passengers, including Ruby and her mate.
It is clear that an employee had to call her to tell her that the plane was ready to take off and that she should return to the airport as soon as possible.
When a passenger asked if the oysters were good, Ruby replied, “Yes, they were.”

The social media star then argued with the other travelers, telling them it was an “innocent mistake” and that they were being rude.
The influencer later took to social media where she blamed Jetstar for the incident, claiming that the staff did nothing to help her.
Ruby wasn’t the only passenger to leave the airport.
Before another late passenger boarded the plane, a flight attendant told travelers that the other woman would arrive shortly and asked everyone to keep quiet once she arrived.
In her tirade, Ruby blamed Jetstar for what happened and told the other passengers to “grow up.”
“I’ve had a pretty traumatic flying experience, thank you Jetstar, you never cease to amaze me,” she began.
‘I’m sorry but it really wasn’t my fault…we were told it would leave at 7:45pm, I hadn’t eaten since my smoothie that morning as I had back to back meetings.
I was like ”f*** this, I’m going to get some food at the airport, it’s two hours before our flight leaves, I’m going”.
“I walked out, I didn’t hear the second announcement which apparently said ”don’t leave the airport”.
“I didn’t hear that, I swear to God, I wouldn’t have left the airport, I’m not stubborn, I do respect everyone else.”
She claimed she received “very personal comments” when she got on the plane.
“I was actually bullied by about seven to 10 to 14 people at different times, then they made comments about my kids. No Jetstar personnel have stopped this at any point. I struggled for about 15 minutes.
“I was scared for myself because number one, I was alone… number two, no one else later than me took advantage, I was alone.”
“I can handle it, I literally said ‘guys go for it, I do this every day, it’s just another fricken thing’.” But one day there will be another girl who is not as strong as me and they will jump on that plane and they will deal with that and they will jump on the other end of the line and kill themselves.
“Just be nice people. To the only man who was nice to me, thank you. To everyone else – grow up.
“I also missed things, I get that, but it wasn’t my fault, it was a genuine mistake. There’s no need to bully me because I’ve got the flu, I mean I’m an influencer.”
