Emma and Jade, 44, met when they were 21 and 19 respectively, and the pop star was quick to open up about their instant chemistry, revealing she knew straight away that Jade was her ‘soulmate’.
But speaking to her good friend Holly Willoughby on the This Morning star’s By The Light of the Moon podcast, Emma revealed in 2022 that breaking up at the start of their 25-year relationship ‘was a treat’.
Emma said: ‘It gave us time to grow as people and when we got back together it was great.’
When Holly labeled her as ‘lucky’ for having ‘met the love of her life early on’, Emma explained: ‘It was very immediate, as soon as I looked at him I thought ‘this is so special’.”
She continued, “He felt exactly the same way. We had some really magical moments very early on and we both resented that.
‘We talked about children, it became very intense very quickly. We both knew we wanted to be together. We are soulmates.’
‘(But) it struck us that we were so young and neither of us had done everything, we did have a break.
“I think it was more, ‘oh my god, we met the person we’re going to spend the rest of our lives with and we’re 19 and 21’, it was such a crazy time.”
Holly then asked: ‘Do you think that break helped? Did it serve its purpose?’ to which Emma replied: ‘Absolutely. First of all, I was on tour, he was on tour, so I think we both would have taken that time apart anyway.
“But it gave us time to grow as people and when we got back together it was great.”
The couple, who wed in 2021, share children Beau, 16, and Tate, 12.
