The pair have a very close relationship, appearing on each other's social media and joint TV appearances.

Kate recently starred in Channel 4's The Couple Next Door and is best known for her role in the comedy series Spitting Image.

Emily announced her pregnancy on Saturday, writing on Instagram: 'Hello everyone, it's been a while but I'm back with some news. I'm happy to share with you that we are having a baby!!

'I have never been so happy and terrified at the same time. Please go easy on me.

'Every day is mixed with excitement, fear, joy, hysteria, topped off with lots of vomiting – a bit like when you've just stepped out of Oblivion at Alton Towers with a hangover.

'I got to know my body on such an insane level. It has made me appreciate the one I was given so much. I do my very best to make it a home for the little squid I raise.

'We can already feel the baby lying on a mattress with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and asking for more chocolate chips.

“I'm so happy to be able to write all this to all of you. You have always stuck with me through the years, please stick around to see how I entered my motherhood era. Christ. Let's go.'

Fans were none the wiser before the news broke and it's all thanks to Emily's clever tricks to avoid online gambling

The TV personality suffered a social media blackout after her holiday to Sicily in October.

Since then, Emily has shared very select stories on the platform and hasn't posted to her roster — with the exception of a bump-free birthday throwback snap a week before Christmas, and posting photos of her dogs.

Earlier this month, Emily announced that she was returning to social media to make suggestions as to why fans had seen so little of her on the platform.

The star said she wanted to 'focus on real life' after an 'amazing year'.

She added, “But I'll be back soon.” I hope you're all living your best hungover lives and getting ready for the family fights and deflated wobbly blow-up beds.”

Days later, the TV star was back on social media to confirm her pregnancy.

Emily and Alistair have only been pictured together once when they had a good time in London in September 2023.

Alistair describes himself on LinkedIn as a materials scientist and electron microscopist, specialized in nuclear and space applications.

He attended the University of Manchester where he studied for his PhD and Masters and also worked as a lecturer.

The scientist obtained his bachelor's degree from Keele University and is believed to be in his mid to late 30s.

He is now believed to be a senior consultant for Core Materials at Jacobs – a major US company.

A friend confirmed that Emily's relationship with Alistair has gone from strength to strength and they moved in together ahead of the arrival of their bundle of joy.

The insider said The sun: 'Emily is delighted about the happy news and is happy to tell family and close friends about her little one on the way. It's the perfect end to her year and she feels on cloud nine.

'Emily is more than ready to become a mother and it is something she has dreamed of all her life. Her relationship with Alistair has gone from strength to strength and they have moved in together.

'Family is everything to her – she comes from a large family and is very close to all her brothers and sisters – so she can't wait to start one of her own. They have all rallied around her and are happy for the joyful occasion.”

Emily didn't confirm Alistair's identity in her pregnancy post – although her publicist confirmed they are together – but still referred to him through her repeated use of “we.”

The actress and TV personality has been single since splitting from her former Big Brother star and tree surgeon ex-boyfriend Liam McGough last year.

They sparked rumors that they were back together in July after spending the evening together with some friends, but sources insisted they were just good friends.

Emily has previously been linked to a number of men, including singer Harry Styles, comedian and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Seann Walsh, and footballer Jack Grealish.
