Elon Musk has further hinted that his showdown with Mark Zuckerberg will take place at the Colosseum in Rome.

The owner of the X – formerly known as Twitter – tweeted Friday morning that a location had been agreed after previously tweeting “Gladiator” alongside two sword emojis.

“The fight will be administered by my and Zuck’s (not UFC) foundations,” the Tesla mogul tweeted.

“Livestream will be on this platform and Meta. Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all.

“I have spoken with the Prime Minister of Italy and the Minister of Culture. They’ve agreed on an epic location.’

Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk’s proposed superfight could take place at the Coliseum

Per Musk, Italy’s prime minister and his culture minister have agreed on an ‘epic location’

Elon Musk seemed to hint at the likelihood of the fight at the wonder of the world

While Musk may be referring to the Colosseum with his Gladiator reference, the Ridley Scott-produced classic was filmed on a replica in Malta.

Musk, who has become something of a man of the people since taking over Twitter, told X users that “anything done will show respect for Italy’s past and present.”

As for the profit? According to the South African, ‘all proceeds go to veterans’.

Of course, there’s a business angle to the fight, with Musk confirming that Twitter Blue, or subscribers to his profile, will receive a “bonus,” behind-the-scenes footage.

Las Vegas was originally pitched as the possible location for a fantasy battle between Facebook billionaire Zuckerberg and X (formerly Twitter) chief Musk, but reports in June claimed the Coliseum could be an option.

According to TMZZuckerberg was approached by Italy’s culture minister for staging his confrontation with Musk on Rome’s legendary battlefield, with the latter also tweeting, “A chance fight is taking place in the Colosseum.”

The probability seems to be increasing.

Rome’s Colosseum, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, is Italy’s most iconic landmark, but it hasn’t received a massive audience for hundreds of years.

The almost 2,000-year-old amphitheater can only accommodate a few hundred spectators in temporary seats inside.

A proposed date of a possible clash between the two social media titans has been a matter of debate, with August 26 being a possible option for both sides.

However, Musk said on Sunday that he had to undergo an MRI scan due to an injury.

The exact date is still in motion. I’m getting an MRI of my neck and upper back (Monday). May require surgery before combat can take place. Will know this week.’
