Elon Musk fainted at a meeting in Moscow after drinking several shots of vodka at dinner where he was trying to buy multi-million dollar rockets.

He worked with rocket engineer Jim Cantrell and Adeo Ressi, his former college roommate and CEO of the Founder Institute, to arrange a business meeting to negotiate the purchase of the rockets.
According to the book, which was released on September 12, Musk and his colleagues flew to Moscow in the early 2000s to discuss purchasing the rockets with the Russians.
But before they landed, they had a stopover in Paris, including a late night of partying, leaving Musk “ragged.”

The trio met the potential sellers in the back room of a Moscow restaurant and ate “small bites interspersed with large shots of vodka,” Isaacson wrote.
Musk and his two friends also each received a bottle of vodka as a gift, with a photo of the recipient on Mars on the label.

After the failed meeting that left him fainting, Musk returned to Moscow in early 2002 to try to buy two Dnepr rockets for $18 million.
He was mocked by the Russians, who each wanted $18 million for the projectiles, and they said, “Oh, little boy, haven’t you got the money?”
Musk pushed the price back and ultimately left empty-handed when they raised the cost to $21 million each, Cantrell said in the book.

During the meeting with the French president the next day, Musk could still be seen wearing what appeared to be his party boots from the previous evening.
Acclaimed author Isaacson, who wrote the biographies of Steve Jobs and Albert Einstein, worked with Musk for two years on his book.
In January, Musk claimed he hated the “taste or effects of most alcohol” but admitted he liked red wine.
He was caught drinking the booze at the World Cup finals in Qatar in 2022, and drank whiskey with Joe Rogan while on his podcast in 2018.
In 2017, Musk tweeted: “A little red wine, vintage record, some Ambien… and magic!”
It’s not the first time Musk has admitted to partying hard before a big gathering, joking that he had to “sleep in his car” after partying in Los Angeles before flying to Paris to meet the French president. Meet.
