Elon Musk’s mother under fire over advice to poor people worried about having children

Elon Musk’s mother, Maye Musk, is under fire after defending her stance on having children even if you can’t afford them.

During an appearance on Fox and Friends on December 15 with interviewer Rachel Campos-Duffy, the 76-year-old revealed that there are ways to have children without spending a lot of money.

In the past, her son Elon, who has fathered 12 children, has been quite outspoken about declining birth rates in the United States, noting that declining fertility rates pose a greater threat to humans than climate change.

During the interview, Campos-Duffy brought up this fact and asked Maye about her recent response to a comedian who had argued that it was too expensive to have children.

Earlier last month, Maye had that too responded to a post on

“Having children is the greatest gift of life,” Maye wrote on X. “When Elon was born, we were in a small two-bedroom apartment overlooking a garage.”

“When Kimbal was born, we moved to a two-bedroom apartment with a view. When Tosca was born, we moved into a two-bedroom house. All in the same area. We didn’t go out to dinner or to the movies. When my ex-husband got promoted at the engineering firm, we upgraded our lifestyle,” her message continued.

‘He then opened his own engineering firm and we were able to move to a nice house in a better area. Children give you the greatest joy in the world. I never felt like I was sacrificing anything. As soon as I could afford some help at home, I opened my dietetics practice at home. My career was on hold, but it was so worth it. Have children, add value to your life.’

On Fox and Friends yesterday, Maye reiterated her points.

“You know, when I had my kids, we were in a little two-bedroom apartment overlooking a garage,” Maye explained on Fox and Friends.

“And the next year I had a second child, we had an apartment with a view, and with the third child we were able to get a two-bedroom house, and you, you know, as you go on, you start to do better and better ,” she continued.

“You don’t have to go to the movies, you don’t have to go out to dinner, just spend time with the best gifts you could ever receive, being the kids,” Maye concluded.

However, many users on seriously heated reactions after the former supermodel.

‘Have children, but don’t do anything with them. Great advice,” someone was hurt.

Someone else wrote: ‘When I had my first child, we lived in a two-bedroom apartment above a garage.’ She’s so oblivious that she doesn’t realize how much a two-bedroom apartment costs now.”

“It’s always fascinating how shamelessly rich people say they don’t see other people as people, like how can anyone say something like that and not be immediately hated by everyone,” another wrote.

A second said: ‘It’s always funny to see the ultra-rich shutting their mouths when they have no idea what they’re talking about.’

‘I’m tired of rich people talking about whether working class people should have children or not. You want your cake and eat it too. You want the next generation to exploit working class people for wealth, but you don’t want to pay taxes to contribute despite them benefiting from it,” one X user admitted.

Others called Maye the “ultimate example of privilege” and “detached from reality.”

In recent months, Maye’s son, Elon, has been spending a lot of time with newly elected President Donald Trump, even joining him on the Mar-a-Lago golf course with the New Yorker’s grandchildren.

Maye shed light on her son’s relationship with Trump during a recent appearance on Fox Business, laughing that they “got along so well.”

She even shared more about Trump’s youngest son, Barron, who is a freshman at New York University’s Stern School of Business.

“The funny thing is, Barron and Elon were talking about planets at Thanksgiving dinner. He is 18 years old. They discussed all the different planets and why Mars is the best place to start a new civilization,” Musk said of her son and Trump’s youngest son.

She said she was also very impressed with the youngest Trump.

“Trump just loves someone he can trust completely and who has no alternative motives,” she claimed of their relationship.
