As The World Turns star Elizabeth Hubbard has passed away at the age of 89.
The death of the iconic Emmy Award-winning actress – who played Lucinda Walsh on the show – was announced this weekend by her son Jeremy Bennett, 51, on Facebook.
He wrote, “I am sorry to say with a broken heart that my mother passed away this weekend. Thank you for being an unshakable rock that has guided me through life. I will try to honor your memory as long as I live.’
The star was a two-time Daytime Emmy Award winner and won her first gong in 1974 for her role as Dr. Althea Davis on NBC’s The Doctors.
She won her second in the 1976 daytime drama TV movie First Ladies Diaries: Edith Wilson.
However, it was her role as ruthless businesswoman Lucinda Walsh that became her most famous, earning her nine Daytime Emmy Award nominations.
Jeremy is the only child she shared with ex-husband David Bennett, to whom she was married from 1970-1973.
She last starred on the soap opera Anacostia from 2015-2018 as Eva Montgomery.
She was nominated for a 2016 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Digital Drama Series for the role
