The Princess of Wales has been quietly showing her support for a young jewelery designer who started her business with a loan from the Prince’s Trust, founded by King Charles.

I can reveal that Catherine wore a pair of earrings during her visit to the United States with Prince William last week that were created by Londoner Lenique Louis.

“Kate is very conscientious when it comes to her style choices and strives to support British brands,” Lenique tells me.

“He could have gone to any of the big designers, but he wanted to get them from an unknown designer, who was helped by his father-in-law.”

Miss Louis used a £2,000 loan from the Prince’s Trust to start her business in 2009 and became an ambassador for the charity the following year.

Catherine wore a bespoke version of the £285 Gold Spine hoop earrings.

“I love the fact that Kate embraces sustainability,” she says.

“It’s something I really like because I use recycled gold and my packaging is sustainable.”

Lenique, 37, adds: “In 2009, I never would have thought that someone within the royal family would be displaying my jewellery.

It’s something you don’t expect. It’s just wonderful.
