EA pulling Battlefield: Bad Company games, Mirror’s Edge from stores

Publisher Electronic Arts pulls Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: bad company, Battlefield: Bad Company 2and the original Mirror’s Edge of online stores in April, Developer DICE announced this on Tuesday. DICE said the four games will be removed from digital storefronts such as the PlayStation Store, Steam and Xbox Games Store before online services for those games are shut down in December.

The single player parts of Bad company, bad company 2And Mirror’s Edge will remain playable, DICE said. Battlefield 1943a digital multiplayer release for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, will no longer be playable after December 8, when online services for those four games are shut down.

“While these titles hold a special place in our hearts, we now look forward to creating new memories with you as we shift our focus to our current and future Battlefield experiences,” said DICE.

Battlefield: bad company is the oldest of the games to close. It was released in June 2008, five months ahead of DICE’s Mirror’s Edge. The final game is primarily a single-player game, but had access to online leaderboards and allowed players to download recordings of other players’ gameplay, called Ghosts, to use as guidelines to beat their times. from DICE Mirror’s Edge Catalysta reboot of the property in 2016, seems unaffected by the server shutdown.

DICE is currently developing the next games in the Battlefield franchise, following the cool reception until 2021 Battlefield 2042, a multiplayer-only game that suffered from various lags. The difficult release of 2042 led to leadership changes at DICE, and EA gave Vince Zampella, co-founder of Apex Legends and Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment, overseeing the Battlefield franchise. Marcus Lehto, co-creator of Halo and head of a new EA development studio, will spearhead efforts to bring world-building and story to Battlefield as EA and DICE plan to change the development process of the franchise “from the ground up” to reconsider.
