An impressive drone video captures a freight train moving across a pink salt lake.
The incredible aerial footage was captured by filmmaker Vadim Makhorov and shows a train transporting salt across Lake Burlinskoye in Siberia’s Altai Krai region, close to the border with Kazakhstan.
The train runs on rails that are laid just below the water surface. The intense color of the lake ensures that the whole thing evokes a fantasy world feeling.

‘The water turns pink due to the presence of small crustaceans and microalgae that only reproduce in very salty water.
‘The salt concentration in this lake is 200 grams per liter.
Since 1768, table salt has been extracted from the lake. Today, 65,000 tons of salt are extracted annually.
‘They literally scrub the bottom of the lake and put the mixture of salt and silt into the train, which then ends up in the water along the railway line.
“When you first see it, it looks so bizarre!”
