Donny van de Beek made the surprise decision not to attend Manchester United’s FA Cup victory over Man City, instead attending a music concert in his native Netherlands.
The Dutch midfielder is United’s forgotten man, having spent the season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, with the Bundesliga outfit recently deciding not to accept the option to make the deal permanent.
The original loan deal included an option to buy clause that allowed the German club to make his stay permanent for a fee of £9.5 million plus an additional fee of £2.6 million.
Van de Beek moved to Old Trafford four years ago under former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for £40 million from Ajax, but has failed to fulfill the potential he boasted he came to England with.
United are expected to do everything they can to secure Van de Beek’s permanent departure in the summer, but the 27-year-old was a surprise omission at Wembley on Saturday.

Van de Beek instead went to a music concert in Amsterdam and shared a photo of himself enjoying the atmosphere
Despite United making just two appearances in all competitions this season (a Premier League defeat to Crystal Palace and a League Cup win over the Eagles), Van de Beek was widely expected to be present at the FA Cup final.
Instead, the midfielder opted to attend a music concert in Amsterdam at the home of his former club Ajax – the Johan Cruijff Arena – and shared a photo of himself at the event.
Van de Beek appears to have attended the ‘Toppers In Concert – Club Tropicana Edition’ event and beamed as he posed for a photo while dressed in a blue shirt and white pants.
The Dutch band describes the event on their website as ‘the ultimate Summer Beach Party’ with a fixed dress code consisting of ‘coconut white with a tropical touch’.

Tickets for the event were still available in the run-up to the show, costing just £2 in the hours before the concert started.
Another career blow for Van de Beek also saw him left out of the Netherlands’ 30-man provisional squad for the upcoming European Championship.
Meanwhile, United’s FA Cup title celebrations were in full swing in London after they recorded an impressive victory over derby rivals Man City.
Amad Diallo shared images from the team’s dressing room at Wembley, where champagne was sprayed everywhere as the squad posed for photos.
