Cannes Film Festival: Eva Green puts on a showstopping display in a dramatic sequinned gown at the closing ceremony

Eva Green looked glamorous in a dark silver sequin dress at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival on Saturday.

The former Bond Girl, 43, put on a busty display in the long-sleeved dress at her feet.

She wore a stunning pair of silver chandelier earrings with yellow stones and wore her raven braids in a high ponytail.

Eva was joined by the likes of Elle Fanning and Demi Moore at the closing ceremony of the 77th Annual Film Awards.

The festival, which showcases new films of all genres and from all countries, kicked off on May 14 – and Eva was one of the first to arrive.

Eva stunned in large black sunglasses and a brown trench coat as she arrived in Cannes on May 13.

She wore a black top and black pants under the jacket and wore a stylish two-in-one silver ring.

This year Eva was a member of the jury: a group of filmmakers and actors who are solely responsible for choosing the films that will receive an award.

The jury was led by director Greta Gerwig, whose 2023 film Barbie is the highest-grossing film directed by a woman.

Cannes is the world’s largest film festival, first conceived in 1939 as an alternative to the then fascist-influenced Venice Film Festival.

It has been held annually since 1946, except in 1948 and 1950, when it was canceled due to lack of funds.

The festival is known for its carefully selected program of films that achieved Oscar success or launched the careers of directors such as Quentin Tarantino.

Cannes’ top prize is the Palme d’Or, or Palme d’Or, whose previous winners include Taxi Driver, Apocalypse Now, Pulp Fiction, The Pianist and Parasite.

Jane Campion became the first female director to win the award in 1993 with The Piano, followed by a gap of almost three decades until Julia Ducournau received the award for Titane in 2021.

Last year, Justine Triet became only the third female director to receive the award with Anatomy of a Fall.

The Cannes Film Festival also presents the honorary Palme d’Or, which is awarded in recognition of notable bodies of work, including Harrison Ford, Jane Fonda and Clint Eastwood.

There are two honorees this year: George Lucas of “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones,” and Japanese animation legend Studio Ghibli, the first group to receive the award.

On Friday, Star Wars creator and director George Lucas received a well-deserved Palm of Honor d’Or.

The prize is awarded to directors or actors who have created a remarkable oeuvre, but have never won a competitive Palme d’Or.

A Palme d’Or is the highest award presented at the festival and is considered one of the most prestigious awards in the film industry.

Meryl Streep and the Japanese animation studio Studio Ghibli also received a Palme D’Or in Cannes.
