- Trump praised ‘GREAT Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming’ for his ‘strong’ statement of support
- Barrasso said Trump will get the country “back on track.”
- Trump remains the Republican Party’s frontrunner in Iowa – polling at around 50 percent, giving him a lead of 30 points or more over his rivals
Former President Donald Trump thanked the highest-ranking Republican in the Senate yet for supporting his 2024 presidential campaign, ahead of the highly anticipated Iowa caucuses.
Trump praised “GREAT Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming” for his “strong” statement of support on Fox News’ Sean Hannity’s show Tuesday night.
“To know John is to like and respect him, a truly extraordinary man. THANK YOU JOHN!!!’ the former president continued in a Truth Social post.
Barrasso told Hannity that Trump will get the country “back on track” and create a wave of momentum for Republicans to keep the House of Representatives and take back control of the Senate.
He is the highest-ranking Republican in the Senate to support Trump. National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Steve Daines, R-Mont., has also thrown support behind him.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has an openly hostile relationship with the former president.

Senate Minority Whip John Thune, R-S.D., and Whip John Cornyn, R-Texas, are next in line to succeed McConnell if he were to resign.
But Barrasso is seen as another potential front-runner, and his past support of Trump makes him the most closely aligned with Trump in the entire Republican Senate conference.
Thune previously endorsed Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., before suspending his campaign for president last year.
“America was better off under Donald Trump,” Barrasso said in a statement to DailyMail.com.
“I am supporting Donald Trump for president today because hardworking Americans simply cannot afford another four years of Joe Biden,” he continued.

Barrasso’s endorsement comes just days before the Republican caucuses in Iowa on Monday.
Trump remains the frontrunner in the state – polling at around 50 percent, giving him a lead of 30 points or more over his rivals.
Trump’s lead narrows significantly in New Hampshire, where former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley shot into second place within single digits.
With just five days to go before the Iowa caucuses — when Republicans gather in gymnasiums, church halls and anterooms to debate, cajole and urge each other to choose a candidate — the Trump campaign’s plans are to to send a fleet of high-profile speakers across the border, the state was turned upside down by the weather.
