Donald Trump Jr. has been mercilessly mocked after going on a tone-deaf rant calling Washington Post journalists facing layoffs “spoiled rich kids who never had to survive in the real world.”
Trump’s eldest son, 44, weighed in on the layoffs at the top editorial, saying reporters live in a “false utopia.”
He said it makes him fear for the “future of the country” and asked if the parents of those affected would “call to complain” because their children did not get a “participation medal.”
During the tirade, he backed editor Fred Ryan, who provoked his own furious reaction, saying the journalist “introduced the paper to the group” with his “woke nonsense.”

Reporters were told the company would face layoffs in early 2023 at the start of the week, and Ryan declined to answer questions at a town hall meeting.
The number of layoffs at the Jeff Bezos-owned newspaper has yet to be announced, and a spokesman said less than 10 percent of staff would be laid off.
The Sunday magazine also saw staff laid off last month, leaving employees furious and blindsided by more layoffs.
Speaking about his reaction, Trump Jr said: “It’s like their parents finally took them off their cell phone plan or took them off their insurance and now they have to function in the big world for the first time.”
“It’s actually funny how they react to any challenge, any adversity, and it’s actually really scary for the future of our country because I imagine a lot of it aligns with the next generation.”
‘None of these kids these days or these young wannabe ‘journalists’ or whatever, have never functioned in the real world and live in some sort of false utopia.
‘So the parents of these journalists are going to start calling the Washington Post to complain that their son didn’t get a participation medal.
Many were quick to point out that the Trumps have lived a lavish lifestyle their entire lives, after Trump Sr. established himself well.
He faced backlash from comments from people noting that he was “born with a silver spoon in his mouth”.
The family went on regular skiing and other lavish and expensive vacations, as well as living in huge houses.
‘They put a newspaper on the ground with their nonsense and now we can hear over their whining and angry voices.
“Sounds like high school right now, people don’t get their way so they’re going to complain, guess what people welcome into the real world.”
It comes after footage showed Ryan walking offstage after a Q1 announcement, as reporters grilled him about the future of his jobs.
But instead of answering questions, he said he wouldn’t turn town hall into a “grievance session” for employees.
In 2001, Trump Jr.’s drinking was so severe that he was arrested for public drunkenness and spent 11 hours in jail, but is now a teetotaler.
One person pointed out that former President Trump handed out jobs to his daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner while in office.
The Washington Post Guild responded to Ryan, describing his refusal to take questions as “unacceptable” behavior “from any leader,” but “especially from the leader of a news organization whose core values include transparency and accountability.”
Trump Jr has been mocked on social media for his outburst related to the decision to cut jobs, with many pointing out that he comes from a luxurious and privileged background.
One said: ‘Says the guy who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and never had a job his dad didn’t get him.’ What a hipocrite.
Another added: “Imagine yourself as a president having to give your daughter and son-in-law jobs because they haven’t cut themselves in the ‘adult world.’

He is now engaged to former Fox News host Kimberley Guilfoyle, and the couple sold their Hamptons home for $8 million and then bought a sprawling property near Mar-a-Lago in Florida.
Despite the mockery that Trump Jr’s comments drew, he does have some experience in a regular job.
After college, he bartended for a year in Aspen, Colorado. The former president’s eldest son earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from U.Penn’s Wharton School of Finance.
