Dolores Hughes, beloved Hollywood Hillbillies grandmother aka Mema, dies aged 76

Dolores Hughes of the reality TV show Hollywood Hillbillies passed away on Wednesday at the age of 76.

Known as Mema in the series, which first aired in 2014, Hughes became the program’s unexpected breakout star.

TMZbreaking the news of her death, her manager David Weintraub confirmed she died of heart failure at a hospital in Grayson, Georgia.

Hollywood Hillbillies became popular on the cable network Reelz when it aired for three seasons.

It was inspired by Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie’s The Simple Life and the ’60s sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies.

The matriarch appeared in the TV show with her family including her YouTube star grandson Michael Kittrell30.

Led by Weintraub and singer/actor Ray-J, the family was followed by cameras as they moved from Georgia to Los Angeles.

The show ran for three seasons and was eventually cancelled, with the last episode airing in June 2015.

Weintraub told TMZ, “Mema was the greatest, most outspoken tell-it-as-it-is personalities the world had ever seen on TV. I know she will still rule us from heaven.”

In addition to her grandson, Mema leaves behind husband Paul Conlon, daughter Dee Dee Peters and son John Cox.

Confirmation: The outlet said her manager, David Weintraub, confirmed she died of heart failure at a hospital in Grayson, Georgia, aged 76.
