Just days after Disney released the new trailer for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the studio has also confirmed that it will be the last film in the franchise.
The studio issued a press release referring to the upcoming film starring Harrison Ford as “the highly anticipated final installment of the beloved franchise.”
Director James Mangold also confirmed the studio’s statement with a statement of its own in the press release.
“My legendary collaborators and I are very excited to share a brand new and final Indiana Jones adventure with you!” said Mangold.
The film is set to hit theaters on June 30, but it was also announced last week that it will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

While the franchise appears to be over on the big screen, there is a possibility that the franchise will continue on the small screen.
In November, it was reported that an Indiana Jones TV series was in early development on the Disney Plus streaming service.
Early reports revealed that the show would not focus on Harrison Ford’s title character, though the series is believed to be on indefinite hiatus.
The 80-year-old Ford has already left the franchise, taking over the role of Thunderbolt Ross from the late William Hurt in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is set in the year 1969, after Ford’s Indiana Jones against the background of the American space race.
Jones is said to be “worried” about the US government enlisting former Nazis in their race to beat the Russians to the moon.
Newcomers to the franchise Phoebe Waller-Bridge joins the sequel as Helena Shaw, Indy’s goddaughter, along with Mads Mikkelsen as Jurgen Voller, an ex-Nazi now working for NASA.
Other newcomers include Antonio Banderas as Indy’s friend Renaldo, Thomas Kretschmann as Colonel Weber, Toby Jones as Basil Shaw, and Boyd Holbrook as Klaber.

Joining Ford is franchise regular John Rhys-Davies as Sallah, the title character’s old boyfriend.
Disney has been developing the sequel for some time, announcing in 2016 that Indiana Jones 5 would hit theaters July 19, starring Ford and Spielberg directing from a script by David Koepp (including Jurassic). Park).
The project was delayed and postponed several times, with Jonathan Kasdan (Rogue One) replacing Koepp as writer in July 2018.
