Dillian Whyte gets HEATED after a third round TKO victory against Christian Hammer on his comeback to the ring …after a positive drugs test cancelled his showdown with Anthony Joshua last year

  • Dillian Whyte was cleared to resume fighting after being banned earlier this month
  • He reported “adverse analytical findings” before his rematch against Anthony Joshua
  • The 35-year-old made his return to the ring in Ireland on Patrick’s Day

Some sweet words were shared between Dillian Whyte and Christian Hammer following the British fighter’s explosive return to boxing.

The 35-year-old made a winning comeback after being absent since reporting ‘adverse analytical findings’ during a pre-fight drug test conducted ahead of his rematch with Anthony Joshua in 2023.

The positive test led to the cancellation of the fight at London’s O2 Arena.

Whyte made quick work of the Romanian-born Hammer, stopping him in the third round in Castlebar, Ireland on Sunday.

But he was visibly upset about something when he was declared the winner following Hammer’s corner decision to waive the white flag before the fourth round got underway.

Whyte was particularly animated when the two came together to express their issues with each other.

Their conversation was not audible in the clip of the incident released on social media, although the former WBC heavyweight interim title holder appeared to question his opponent about his fight tactic of pulling out early.

Given Whyte’s comments after the fight, it was probably the latter. He didn’t mince words when discussing his opponent, claiming the 36-year-old had left the fight.

“He just stopped, you know, but what can you do?” He told Boxing Social. ‘I’m a bit angry with myself.

‘It is to be expected. I’ve been through a lot of hell, a lot of darkness and pent up frustration and aggression.

‘During the camp I was calm, everything was calm, but it had to come out at some point. That’s my nature. It’s just a shame that it turned out that way.’

Whyte had been in charge from the start with a number of body shots in the opening round and the second.

Round three was a less refined affair but still proved effective in ending the ambitions of the boxer who has also suffered defeats to Joe Joyce and Tyson Fury.

The Brit took his professional record to 30-3, with the losses coming to Gury, Anthony Joshua and Alexander Povetkin.

Whyte made his first appearance since a majority decision victory over Jermaine Franklin in November 2022.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Sunday’s fight, he said: ‘I would like to win another world title. That’s the goal.

‘I’ve done almost everything there is to do in boxing. I’ve talked about good and bad. I just have to win a world title and then that will be the icing on the cake.’
