Did Drake get a nose job and a BBL? Plastic surgeons join in as the rap feud with former friend Rick Ross turns ugly and personal
Plastic surgeons have spoken out about rumors that Drake has undergone cosmetic surgery after a feud involving a rival rapper turned ugly over the weekend.
Hip-hop star and former boyfriend Rick Ross accused Drake, 37, of mixed race, of having “surgery to make your nose smaller than your dad’s.”
In a series of online posts antagonizing the Canadian rapper, Ross also claimed that Drake had undergone surgery to remove fat and accentuate his abs, calling Drake “BBL Drizzy.”
While the accusation of a nose job is new, rumors have been circulating for years that Drake — whose real name is Aubrey Graham — has had work done on his body.
DailyMail.com submitted the claims to top plastic surgeons.
Drake, 37, has likely undergone a nose job, according to two plastic surgeons. They pointed to the reduced top and thinner bridge of his nose to show the shift. (Left, a young Drake, and right, in 2022)
Dr. Elie Levine, a plastic surgeon in New York City, said that if Drake had gotten a nose job, “it was done in a subtle way.”
“It’s not like he went from looking like one person to being a completely different person, but there’s definitely more definition in the later photos,” he added, claiming that lighting, camera angles or simple natural aging are all at play here could have an influence on.
Speaking to DailyMail.com, Dr Levine said: ‘Light can always influence these things and make a difference.
“But if you really look closely, there’s a good chance he did some nose contouring (where part of the nose was shaved off or reshaped).
‘In the (more recent) photos the tip looks more defined, and it also looks a little more subtle and a little less obvious.
‘I would also like to point out the bridge, which looks a bit narrow. If you make subtle changes to one part of the nose, you are almost always forced to make subtle changes to other parts as well.”
Dr. Raja Mohan, a plastic surgeon in Texas, said, “There’s a good chance he’s had a rhinoplasty (nose job) because his tip looks smaller and his nose bridge is narrower.”
But he said he couldn’t be sure because “in the more recent photos there is still a slight bump on the (nose bridge) and some fullness on the right side… or asymmetries that I’ve noticed.”
Typically, these procedures correct any imperfections during surgery.
Rick Ross posted a number of images on Instagram referencing the alleged nose job and BBL. Many directly tagged Drake’s Instagram account “@champagnepapi.”
Drake has pushed back on the accusations with the screenshot above, which he said showed a conversation between himself and his mother
Rapper Rick Ross has accused Drake of getting a nose job, sparking a long-running feud between Drake and other artists
For their assessment, the surgeons compared photos of Drake from his childhood, as well as images from around 2009 (when he released his seminal mixtape “Best I Ever Had”), with closer images.
Drake has denied the nose job rumors and shared an alleged text conversation between himself and his mother in which he said, “I would have gotten a 2 for 1 deal for us if I had gone to mom’s.”
Drake shared this photo in 2019, prompting comments suggesting he had undergone liposuction
This isn’t the first time Drake has been accused of plastic surgery after rumors swirled in 2016 that he had undergone liposuction to get sculpted abs.
Rapper Joe Budden made this claim in his song Afraid, where he said, “Yes, Aubrey, that’s the one we trust, not this new Aubrey with his sculpted stomach.”
In 2018, the rumors resurfaced with rapper Pusha T’s Drake-centric diss track called “The Story of Adidon.”
The song contained the lyrics “surgical summer” and “cut, cut, cut.”
Drake has never been able to completely shake off the accusations since.
In 2023, Drake shared a photo of himself topless after a cold dip, prompting several comments wondering if his abs were natural.
One wrote: ‘Does Drake know that people with defined abs usually have other defined muscles?’, while a second said: ‘Drake and this tummy tuck’.
Dr. Andrew Peredo, a plastic surgeon in New York City, said, “It’s possible he had liposuction, but it’s hard to tell from the available photos.”
‘I can’t see any incisions or cannula marks, and it uniformly looks like it’s tightened, so it doesn’t seem that way – and looks pretty natural.
“That said, the only way to really know is to touch it. Something looks like a six-pack, but when you touch it you find out if it’s muscle or just fat – which would be liposuction.
‘He could also have had minimal liposuction, which some patients with access to resources choose and you hardly see it.’
Minimal liposuction involves removing small pockets of fat from different parts of the body (such as around the abdominal muscles) to accentuate curves and provide more natural-looking definition. This differs from standard liposuction where larger areas of fat are removed. The incisions are also smaller and more subtle.
The latest feud between Drake and Rick Ross comes after several rappers and former Drake associates began “dissing” him.
Former frequent collaborators, rapper-producer duo Future and Metro Boomin have seemingly fired a series of shots at Drake on their new album We Don’t Trust You.
Kendrick Lamar, the Weekend and A$AP Rocky all appeared to diss Drake during guest features on the album.
