Dexterity Strata: Extraordinary development as Fair Trading takes over big strata company deluged with one-star reviews on Google

A ‘nightmare’ company is under investigation for allegedly not paying trades and ignoring its customers.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal that Sydney-based Dexterity Strata is under investigation by NSW Fair Trading.

The regulator has appointed its own managers to run the company and its affiliates as it investigates allegations from angry customers questioning whether the company ‘still existed’.

A Dexterity Strata customer, who lives with his wife in an inner-city Sydney apartment building, criticized the company’s lack of communication.

“They were amazing in the moments after we signed our build – we barely heard from them after that,” he told Daily Mail Australia.

‘We have had a major work project planned for years and there has been no movement whatsoever since the takeover.

‘They rarely respond to emails or concerns and the Google reviews of the company are terrible.

‘Who knows how many customers they have, but strata is a huge business these days.

‘The whole system needs reform – there is hardly any obligation on strata corporations to do anything except around the time of the annual general meeting and collection of levies.

‘Who knows what will happen next? We are all very concerned.’

Daily Mail Australia approached Dexterity Strata for comment. Depak Mishra, who is listed on LinkedIn as director of the company, was also contacted.

Dexterity Strata boasts of offering a ‘premium, personal and friendly service’.

‘Our mission is to provide (sic) unparalleled strata management service,’ the website says.

But the company has been inundated with one-star ratings on Google Reviews — the lowest it’s possible to give.

“It’s a complete nightmare to deal with,” one irate customer wrote.

‘Their communication is virtually non-existent, it takes weeks before a pathetic answer comes.

‘Their customer service is absolutely terrible and makes no distinction between owner or renter. Avoid them at all costs.’

One customer called them “absolute trash.”

“This strata company will not pay the money owed to the trading companies and will not return calls or emails,” the company wrote a day ago.

Another branded the company as ‘unreliable’, while a frustrated customer said he had had to arrange all the work himself.

“Once their service contract is signed, they disappear, … they no longer pick up calls,” they said.

A spokesperson for NSW Fair Trading told Daily Mail Australia they were “investigating this company” but said they could not reveal more details as the investigation was ongoing.

“NSW Fair Trading has appointed a manager over the company and related businesses under section 126 of the Property and Stock Agents Act 2022,” the spokesperson added.

By law, a manager can be appointed for a variety of reasons related to concerns about business operations.

Daily Mail Australia has seen correspondence from Hayes Advisory informing landlords that the company had taken over the management of Dexterity Strata.

“The appointment requires us to take full control of the companies we own and conduct a preliminary investigation thereof, which is ongoing,” the letter said.
