Lords of the fallen publisher CI Games has announced it has laid off 30 employees, months after cutting 10% of its workforce.
This comes from a statement shared with Game developer, where the company explained that the job cuts are part of its business optimization program that it unveiled earlier this year. All affected employees have been informed today (May 10) and will be “fully supported” throughout the process.
The layoffs reportedly represent a “final, targeted round of layoffs,” according to CI Games.
“This restructuring will impact approximately thirty roles in production and will help ensure maximum efficiency in achieving strategic priorities moving forward,” CI Games said.
The publisher also added that the layoffs will have no impact Lords of the fallen studio Hexworks or developing its next action role-playing game Project 3.
In addition, Project survivalthe survival game developed by CI Games’ in-house team, Underdog Studio, will be given “an extended period to successfully complete the Vertical Slice phase before entering full production.”
That was the case last month reported that CI Games had posted its “best year” ever in terms of revenue, with profits of more than $60 million during the fiscal year.
This announcement came a few months after the Polish game developer and publisher laid off 10% of its staff. CEO Marek Tyminski said in a statement at the time that the decision was made to “maintain business strength and stability.”
“CI Games has made the difficult but necessary decision to implement targeted layoffs, impacting approximately 10 percent of employees across the company,” Tyminski added.
Layoffs in the games industry and studio closures have been an ongoing problem over the past year. Just this week, Microsoft announced it would close four Bethesda Softworks studios, including HiFi rush developer Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin, the team behind it Dishonored, PreyAnd Redfall.
