DeSean Jackson, the NFL wide receiver best known for his time with the Philadelphia Eagles, is retiring at the age of 36.
He will sign a ceremonial contract with the Eagles on Friday – his 37th birthday – to retire with the team that drafted him in 2008.
Jackson also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Rams, Raiders, Ravens and Washington Commanders.
Jackson said in a statement: “Philly will always be home. That’s why I wanted to come back and retire as an Eagle. It just suits me. I feel like I should never have left.
“I always look back on my career and say, what would my career have been like if I had stayed an Eagle all those years? What we had in Philly was great. It’s part of history.
‘Things happen. Things happen in business. We try not to harp on the bad times; all we do is talk about the great times. Just enjoy life. That’s all you have to do.’
“Congratulations on your retirement and a great 15-year career,” the Eagles said in a statement Wednesday.
