Senator Jacky Rosen managed to hold her Senate is in it Nevada securing an important victory for Democrats in the state of the battlefield.
After several days of votes being counted, the race was called for Rosen after trailing Republican Sam Brown several times since the first results came in on election night. She won with a majority of 20,571 and 675,318 votes.
The incumbent president faced a challenge from Brown, a veteran and businessman, in a state that Republicans saw as a possible stepping stone to expanding their Senate majority after the chamber flipped on election night.

Rosen was first elected to the Senate in the Silver State in 2018 during the midterm elections, which resulted in a blue wave midway through Donald Trump’s first term that saw former Senator Dean Heller ousted despite being only a freshman was a member of the House of Representatives.
Rosen ran a campaign aimed at protecting women’s reproductive rights and delivering on a state whose economy has been decimated by the coronavirus pandemic.

She also presented herself as a pragmatic lawmaker willing to go the other way to get things done and called for protecting access to health care.
Rosen also received strong support from her state’s powerful unions.
Rosen ran against Brown, an Afghanistan War veteran and West Point graduate who was endorsed by Trump.
Brown is a Purple Heart recipient who suffered burns over thirty percent of his body in 2008 as a result of an improvised explosive device (IED) injury.
He acted as a conservative small businessman who went after Rosen for the state’s slow economic recovery.

However, he was vulnerable to attack because he had lived in the state only a few years after moving from Texas. He has also never held elected office.
Brown ran in the 2022 Republican Senate primary but lost the race to Adam Laxalt, the state’s former attorney general, who comes from a political family.
He wasn’t seen as a MAGA favorite either. Trump only endorsed him days before the Nevada primaries in June, during his own campaign through the state. He did not bring Brown to the podium at his rally when he made the announcement.
Despite the support of Republicans in Washington, Brown continued to trail Rosen in the polls throughout the campaign.
Rosen was first asked to serve in the House of Representatives by the late Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada.

During the 2024 campaign, she remained a well-funded incumbent after Nevada’s 2022 Senate race was one of the closest in the country.
Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto managed to keep her seat two years ago, but voters ousted the state’s Democratic governor, Steve Sisolak, in favor of Republican Joe Lombardo.
Rosen has strong support in the state from political backers, including former President Obama who campaigned with her for entertainer Jimmy Kimmel who came out to rally support.
