Democrat Bill Maher says Biden could be ‘only’ candidate to LOSE to Trump and says he fears the president is sabotaging himself like Ruth Bader-Ginsburg

  • Maher added that Biden has no staying power and will “look bad in debates”
  • He compared the president to Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who refused to retire and was in office at age 87

Bill Maher has warned that Biden will “lose” to Donald Trump in the next election and compared him to Ruth Bader Ginsburg for his inability to quit.

The Democratic comedian and writer made a grim prediction for Biden’s chances, saying he is the “only” candidate who can lose to Trump.

During a segment on his Club Random podcast, Maher referred to the 80-year-old president as “Ruth Bader Biden” in a reference to the Supreme Court justice, who also refused to retire.

Liberal Bader Ginsburg died in office at the age of 87 and was replaced by Trump with a conservative justice, allowing him to further expand his right-wing influence on Supreme Court decisions.

Speaking to Dem strategist James Carville, Maher said: “I think we’re on the same page as Biden. He has done a great service, but while in 2020 he may have been the only one who could have defeated Trump, I think now he is the only one who will lose to him.’

He mentioned several of Biden’s perceived successes, including his handling of Afghanistan, Ukraine and the post-pandemic economy.

He also said he was confident the president could still do his job because governance “is done in small rooms like the Oval Office, where people talk quietly.”

But he was scathing in his assessment of Biden’s election chances, saying he “cannot run for president.”

Maher added: ‘He’ll look bad in the debates. It’s just, it’s too, it’s too much. And I think he’s going to lose.’

He then called the leader the “Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the presidency” and said, “It doesn’t look good.”

Bader Ginsburg refused to resign during the Obama years and was eventually replaced by Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett.

Carville also pointed to polls showing that 73 to 77 percent of the country does not want Biden to run again.

Maher added: “It’s a very large number for something so crucial.”

Maher compared Biden to Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg for his refusal to resign. Bader Ginsburg served until her death at age 87, eventually being replaced by Trump’s nominee, Amy Coney Barrett, to further expand a conservative influence on the court’s decisions.

Carville claimed that Democrats could get 55 percent of the vote simply by having someone under 60 on the ballot.

While Maher said, “Every 50-something, not stupid, woke up the Democrat with a ‘D’ by their name – people just vote ‘D’ and ‘R.’ That person can win.”

His comments about Biden are a clear departure from previous comments CNN where he stated that he believed the incumbent president would win against Trump.

He said in February: “I think Biden will win if it’s Biden versus Trump. I do. No guarantee, but I think this is a very good guess. It was the first time and I think it would be even more so the second time.”
