“And all I could do was just sit there and cry,” she added. “And I remember sitting in the back of my tour bus looking at my fans and crying and thinking, ‘Why am I so unhappy?'”
The singer-songwriter said one of the reasons she publicly shared her diagnosis is because she wanted to be of service to others.
“I knew if I could help others with their journey, that’s exactly what I wanted to do,” she said.
“And so I decided to be open and honest about what I had finally learned about myself.”
The music artist initially spoke about her bipolar diagnosis in 2011.

“I never found out I was bipolar until I went into treatment,” Lovato noted. “In hindsight it makes sense. There were times when I was so manic, I wrote seven songs in one night and I was up until 5:30 in the morning.’
