Debbie Harry, 79, stuns in new Gucci Blondie campaign – after cancelling concerts: ‘She is still an icon!’

Debbie Harry wowed in the new Gucci campaign for the Blondie bag collection, in which she modeled the $6,980 ‘Large Top Handle Bag’ alongside an adorable Yorkie in the backseat of a London taxi.

The Blondie frontwoman easily defied her 79 years in a sheer black ensemble as she modeled the $4,200 Gucci Blondie ‘Medium Top Handle Bag’ while a white dog sat on her lap.

Photographer Nan Goldin also captured Debbie (born Angela Trimble) wearing an oxblood leather jacket selected by stylist Francesca Burns to match the $3,900 Gucci Blondie ‘Small Top Handle Bag’.

“What I like most about Debbie Harry is her irreverence. She is a free spirit in her choices, and she is still an icon,” says Gucci creative director Sabato De Sarno WWD on Thursday.

‘I’ve always been a fan of Blondie; they marked specific moments in my life and inspired generations. She’s American, but she has a strong connection with London.’

The 41-year-old Italian designer noted that the luxury fashion house’s revived Blondie bag is not named after Harry’s new wave band, but rather is a design dating back to 1971.

The Florida-born, New Jersey-raised singer previously sat front row at Gucci’s Cruise 2025 runway presentation at London’s Tate Modern on May 13 alongside Demi Moore, Lila Moss and her famous mother Kate Moss.

In addition to Debbie, Gucci enlisted cellist-singer Kelsey Lu and models Alaato Jazyper and Yanan Wan to front the “We Will Always Have London” campaign.

Harry co-founded Blondie in 1974 with her ex-boyfriend Chris Stein, and they mysteriously announced “the cancellation of several upcoming Blondie concert dates in August and September.”

“This was a difficult decision and we understand how disappointing this news is for everyone,” the three-time Grammy nominees said wrote on July 19.
