David Moyes insisted he ‘absolutely’ has the desire to stay at West Ham and dismissed questions about whether he has the hunger to stay in the game as ’embarrassing’.

Moyes is out of contract at the end of the season but insists he will not make a decision on his future until the season is over.

West Ham have been actively looking for potential replacements for Moyes, with former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui the frontrunner among a number of other candidates.

But despite the uncertainty, the Scot was convinced he still has the ambition to stay in football and at West Ham.

‘Absolute. Hungry for football? I’m a bit ashamed that you’re asking me that question, for you,” Moyes said.

‘Because I’m a football nut, I love football, I go to matches, I watch matches, I love it, I really do, so yes, I’m very hungry for football.’

When asked if he would like to stay at West Ham, Moyes replied: “Absolutely, yes.”

“I told everyone and also people who work for your company that we will make a decision at the end of the season.”

Moyes’ comments come after West Ham technical director Tim Steidten was told to stay away from the first-team dressing room.

Mail Sport reported on Thursday that following internal discussions it has been decided that Steidten will not enter the senior dressing room at London Stadium or the club’s Rush Green training ground until the end of the season.

Moyes said the decision was made to ensure his team remained focused on the final three games of the season.

“We don’t want any distractions,” Moyes said. ‘We keep our eye on the ball. Tim has his job to do, I have my job to do. We have three games to play.

“We want to continue to focus on the games we’ve been talking about.”

Asked if there had been any friction between himself and Steidten, Moyes replied: ‘No, not at all. I’ve said before: Tim has his job to do.
