Daryl Braithwaite Returns Harry Styles’ ‘Latest Compliment’ With A Cover Of Watermelon Sugar

Daryl Braithwaite returns Harry Styles’ ‘latest compliment’ by performing a cover of Watermelon Sugar at his Sydney concert

Harry Styles paid the ‘ultimate compliment’ to legendary Australian singer Daryl Braithwaite by covering his hit Horses at his Melbourne concert in February.

Now the 74-year-old former Sherbet lead singer has returned the tip of the hat by covering Watermelon Sugar at his own concert in Sydney on Friday night.

Since both singers performed in the same city on the same night, dividing fans, Braithwaite honored the 29-year-old fans in his crowd with the performance.

In a video uploaded to TikTok by fans, Braithwaite held up a fan-written sign that read: “I had a ticket to see Harry, but I chose you.”

It was all in good fun, though, as the veteran performer launched into his own rendition of Styles’ hit Watermelon Sugar.

The entertainer shared his excitement on Facebook the next day, writing: “What an extraordinary night it was at Harry’s concert.” I love the feel of these massive concerts as they take on a life of their own.

He continued: ‘Harry Styles is so good at what he does and they loved him. He was completely overwhelmed by the night. Thanks to Harry and his army.

Styles has certainly won over Australian fans during his Love On Tour, as the tattooed star wowed the crowd by doing a ‘shoey’ during his set at HBF Park in Perth.
