Darren Till’s first words after Tommy Fury showed his ‘true colours’ after pulling out of January 18 showdown… as ex-UFC star calls out new opponent

Darren Till believes Tommy Fury has shown his ‘true colors’ as a coward after pulling out of their fight next month – and has called on Jake Paul to perform in Manchester.

Fury ditched the showdown, scheduled for January 18 at the Co-op Live Arena, after Till threatened to kick him in the head if he lost at a promotional event last month.

Till, a former UFC fighter, insists his threats were mere showmanship to increase intrigue and revenue, and has vigorously defended his integrity in the ring.

‘All my life I have always adhered to the rules of fighting. “I was building up the fight with Tommy and saying things that I knew would make him fuck himself because I know deep down he’s not a real fighter,” Till said on X.

“And now that it has become a reality, what I said is true. He has withdrawn and shown his true colors. Until January 18, because no matter what happens, I will be there as I have always been. I always show up and I always will for the fans, whether you like me or not. ‘Someone needs to find John Fury for me because he’s not answering the phone, probably nudging young coaches or hitting glass again.’

Till, 31 and from Liverpool, was furious that Fury had taken his words as a serious threat. He says the former Love Island flame was locked up to make more money from the bust as the ‘A side’ of the event, but boasted that he was the one who got bums out of the seats.

Till insists he only threatened to increase revenue for the fight and increase intrigue

He added: ‘I sold the fight to get me and you more money, you absolute airhead, fighting family, my a** you and your dad s**thouses.

“I don’t need to throw any kicks, you got knocked out, you guys split, we made money on this fight because I wasn’t you,” he said.

He then invoked Paul, who recently defeated Mike Tyson, 58, in a professionally sanctioned fight but lost to Fury via split decision last year.

“I was building it, you should fight and thank me. Over and out…nobody wants to fight me…Jake Paul, what are you up to, you fat dummy?”

Despite Till’s protests, it’s easy to see how Fury took his words seriously. Their press conference last month was heated.

“If I can’t beat you in the end, I’ll just kick you in the face,” Till said.

‘What about that? I’m a real fighter, not a boxer. I don’t walk into a room like this and see boxing and say, “s***.” I walk in, no one here is a threat to me. Not a single person in this room, the security, you and your father pose no threat to me.

“I’m an MMA fighter, so if I want to kick you or elbow you in the face, I’ll do it, and there’s nothing anyone can do about it.”

He called up Jake Paul, who lost to Fury last year, for the fight on January 18 in Manchester

Fury was unwilling to enter the ring with a man he considers an outsider.

“For the one simple reason that Darren has stated time and time again that he does not want to adhere to professional boxing rules and that if he loses the fight he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics.

‘I’m a professional boxer, I’ve been out of the ring for over a year and I wanted this to be a great BOXING fight for the fans. I wasted weeks at training camp. We are working hard to find a new opponent and date. I promise I will get a better opponent and fight better for you. Good news around the corner.’

Paul has yet to respond to Till’s call, but he found Fury’s stoppage of the fight funny, simply writing “hahahaha” on X.

Tempers flared between the Fury and Till camps during an explosive press conference last month.

Fury’s father John was also seen throwing water in the former UFC fighter’s direction.

However, it had limited effect, with Fury left soaked by his father. The move still outraged Till, who was seen trying to rush at the 59-year-old.

The Liverpudlian was held back by security guards, with John showing no signs of backing down as he tried to confront his son’s opponent after taking off his jacket.

Until then, it seemed like they were continuing their clash on social media after publishing John Fury’s phone number. The 31-year-old posted a mobile phone number to his followers on X, formerly Twitter, and added the message ‘Thanks John Fury’.

Until he finally deleted his post, which had been viewed more than 10,000 times, but fans were quick to respond and question the validity of the number.

His social media post came a day after he promised to ‘terrorize’ him [John Fury] and his entire family” ahead of his Jan. 18 fight with Tommy.
