Jensen Karp, Danielle Fishel’s husband, called his wife the “strongest person” and praised her for going public with her breast cancer diagnosis.
Fishel, 43, recently announced that she was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ, an early form of the disease.
Her 44-year-old husband, whom she has been married to for six years and has two children with, showed his support for Fishel in a post he shared to his Instagram Stories on Monday.
“I am so proud of @daniellefishel for using her platform to raise awareness. We can’t miss appointments and we all need to get checked! She is the strongest person I have ever met. She can do this.”
The sweet message came shortly after Fishel, who is best known for her role as Topanga Lawrence on the teen sitcom Boy Meets World, announced her diagnosis.

Speaking of the Pod Meets World PodcastDanielle explains: ‘I was recently diagnosed with DCIS, which stands for ductal carcinoma in situ, a form of breast cancer.
“It’s very, very, very early. Technically it’s stage zero.
“To be exact, because I always want too much information, I was diagnosed with DCIS with high-grade microinvasion.”
Despite this, Danielle remains optimistic and continues to insist that ‘things will turn out fine’.
She said, ‘It’s going to be okay. I’m going to have surgery to remove it.’
‘I’m going to have a follow-up treatment. I’ve had to make a lot of decisions in the last few days.’
Danielle is grateful that the problem was discovered “so, so, so early” and the actress encourages her fans to get tested as well.
She said: ‘The only reason I found out about this cancer when it was still stage zero is because I made an appointment the day I got the text that my annual mammogram was scheduled.
“They thought it was so, so, so early that I can make it. I hope it will encourage everyone to go there.”
Fishel revealed her diagnosis on an episode of her podcast, Pod Meets World

Danielle also acknowledged that her treatment could get in the way of her podcast series.
The actress shared, “I have some big decisions ahead of me about what I want to do for treatment. I don’t have all the answers yet.
I wanted to let our dear listeners know that we’re going to try not to let it affect us, but [there are] “We may have to postpone things depending on what treatments I have.”
The Mayo Clinic states that ‘Ductal carcinoma in situ is a very early form of breast cancer. In ductal carcinoma in situ, the cancer cells are confined to a milk duct in the breast. The cancer cells have not spread to the breast tissue. Ductal carcinoma in situ is often abbreviated as DCIS. It is sometimes called noninvasive, preinvasive, or stage 0 breast cancer.
“DCIS is usually discovered during a mammogram performed as part of breast cancer screening or to investigate a lump in the breast. DCIS has a low risk of spreading and becoming life-threatening. However, it does require evaluation and consideration of treatment options,” the clinic said.
Since 2022, Fishel has hosted Pod Meets World with Will Friedle and Rider Strong, her former Boy Meets World colleagues.
The trio co-starred with Ben Savage in the hit sitcom about teenager Cory Matthews (Savage), his best friend Shawn Hunter (Strong) and girlfriend Topanga Lawrence (Fishel) from elementary school to college.
Fishel starred in the coming-of-age sitcom Boy Meets World from 1993 to 2000
The show aired from 1993 to 2000.
Fishel has two children with her husband Jensen: sons Adler Lawrence Karp, five, and Keaton Joseph Karp, two.
