Dan Andrews has announced that Victoria’s Covid-19 emergency will end next week.

On Friday, the Victorian Prime Minister said the state’s pandemic declaration will officially end on Wednesday, October 12.

Melbourne has been on lockdown for 248 days, making it the city that has spent the most cumulative days in the world with stay-at-home moms.

The end of the state of emergency makes the remaining Covid orders and vaccine mandates unenforceable.

This means that Victorians no longer need to isolate after testing positive for Covid-19.

Despite the end of the state’s pandemic statement, Mr Andrews insisted that vaccine mandates for health professionals remain.

‘Mandates remain important for our health workers, for our disabled, for our aged care workers; the last thing we want is for our health workers to contribute to making people sick,” he told reporters in Geelong on Friday.

“They remain vaccinated and want to be vaccinated.”

During the national cabinet last week, all states voted unanimously to abolish the October 14 Covid isolation mandates, with Mr Andrews saying the nation is entering the next phase of pandemic management.

“It’s about trying to end that exceptional COVID-19. We will have more to say about the pandemic statement shortly,” he said.

The third dose mandates remain for places such as in prisons and health settings and across the states’ emergency services.

In Victoria, 94.8 percent of people aged 12 and older have received their first two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.

Nearly 70 percent of people age 16 and older have had the third dose.
