The DOI star showed what his scar looks like now after abdominal surgery and the “insane swelling” he experienced last week.

Alongside the photos, he wrote: ‘A little stomach update… I’m almost four weeks post op and feeling so much better.

‘I can move almost without pain and the wound has now closed and healed. In photo 2 you can see the crazy swelling I initially had.

‘I can’t tighten my abdominal muscles properly yet, but that’s coming. I’ve also managed to put on a lot of weight since the operation, so as soon as I’m ready, I’ll start training to get fit again… maybe even get back on skates again.”

Greg revealed what his ‘terrible’ Dancing On Ice injury was as he went to hospital for surgery.

He told fans: ‘Today is the day of the operation. A lot of people have asked, “What happened?”

“I’ve been a bit busy and obviously just recovering from the initial injury before I had the operation, which I hadn’t gotten around to talking about.

‘Long story short, I jumped through Colin’s legs and managed to tear all my abs and get a hernia. So I effectively gave myself a C-section.

“So yeah, it was terribly painful. Today he has to have surgery and I am completely on the mend. It was very painful, quite terrible.’

The Olympian would have to compete against Ryan Thomas, Adele Roberts and Miles Nazaire for the trophy.

Ryan skated to victory and was crowned Dancing On Ice’s 2024 winner alongside professional partner Amani Fancy during the live final.

Greg, meanwhile, shared a video of himself and Vanessa James doing the bolero as he lamented that he had missed the final and was feeling ‘a bit heartbroken’.

He wrote: ‘Something I really wish I could have pulled off… #Bolero I’m almost 36 hours post-injury and watching the videos of what could have been. It’s damn hard to comprehend at the moment because I know we could have shown something exciting and new with our last performances.

“Of course the Bolero isn’t a given and I’ll post our showcase at some point too… I haven’t shown the ending because I’m determined to actually perform it with Vanessa one day for everyone to see.

“I’m really proud of what we achieved on the show. This recording was from Saturday morning and we were marking for the double twist… the entire program was absolutely beautiful. My heart is a little broken right now.”
