Daily Mail poll reveals results of the Biden and Trump poll that really matters this Christmas: Americans give their verdict on which candidate they want as a guest and who they would trust to cook dinner

The turkey is in the oven, the lights on the tree are twinkling and the drinks will eventually flow freely while used wrapping paper is scattered on the floor.

Politics will be the last thing on most Americans' minds this Christmas.

But as the decorations come down and the holidays come to an end, the nation will brace for 11 months of campaigning before the general election.

In 21 days, the focus will shift from Christmas carols to caucuses as Republican candidates descend on Iowa in the battle for the 2024 presidential nomination.

Millions will be looking for answers to questions about which candidate they think is best for the job. Can they restore the economy? Can they tackle the border? Will they protect us from national security threats?

The polls have addressed many of these issues and show how well voters think Republicans and Democrats can handle each of these issues.

But one crucial (albeit festive) feature hasn't been taken into consideration: would it be better to have a Joe Biden or Donald Trump Christmas?

DailyMail.com has the answers.

American voters have given their verdict on whether they would rather celebrate a Joe Biden or Donald Trump-based Christmas

The majority of Americans would rather spend Christmas with Trump, according to a DailyMail.com poll that covered a wide range of topics.

The survey of 1,000 voters, conducted by JL Partners, found that voters would prefer Trump to be involved in many aspects of the festivities, including preparing Christmas dinner, choosing the family movie and giving gifts.

The Donald, known as an entertainer and for his DJ skills and with his palatial Mar-a-Lago estate, is considered the better host.

The voters were also attracted to his guest; 47 percent said they would invite him to their home.

As for Biden, Americans view the 81-year-old grandfather as more good neighbors than his potential 2024 rival and would trust him to take care of their home when they go on vacation.

Overall, Biden's poll numbers have been disastrous in recent months and have repeatedly raised questions about his prospects in 2024.

Year-end ratings gave him the lowest approval rating of any contemporary president, even fellow countryman Jimmy Carter.

Gallup's latest tracking number, released Friday, puts Biden's approval rating at 39 percent, up two points from lows in October and November.

That's worse than the last seven presidents in history when they ended their third year in power.

DailyMail.com's Christmas survey was also broken down by party affiliation.

Not surprisingly, Republican voters overwhelmingly said they would prefer to include Trump in their plans, while Democrats wanted Biden at every opportunity.

The results were more mixed when asked who belongs on Santa's naughty and nice list.

Trump came out on top, possibly citing his multiple criminal charges and his dominance in the polls in the Republican primaries.

36 percent of Democrats put Trump at the top of their naughty list, while fellow Republican primary rival Ron DeSantis is in second place with 6 percent.

Nearly half of Republicans (47 percent) believed Biden was most deserving of a lump of coal this year, ahead of Hillary Clinton in second place at 10 percent.

Joe Alder, Senior Research Associate at JL Partners, said: “These results reflect what we know to be the strengths and weaknesses of the Donald Trump and Joe Biden brands.

'Trump is seen by many as powerful, vital and funny, so it is not surprising that he is chosen as Christmas guest by the average American.

“For better or worse, he is also seen as rich – the successful man of commerce – which probably explains the public's fourteen-point preference for Trump over Biden as the man who gives them a gift this Christmas.

'Although Trump can be seen as corrupt and unscrupulous, Biden's personality is rather friendly.

“That's why it's Biden, not Trump, who Americans say they would trust to take care of their homes while they were away.

“In other words, how audiences view these leaders at Christmas reveals how they understand their characters: the loud-mouthed businessman and the twinkly grandfather.”
