Cristiano Ronaldo told a group of eager Manchester United fans to calm down as they sought his autograph after a recent match at Old Trafford, drawing comparisons to his iconic ‘Calma’ celebration.

The 37-year-old has had a rollercoaster of a season at United – both on and off the pitch – but that hasn’t stopped the five-time Ballon d’Or winner from being adored by Red Devil fans.

And in a new video, you can see the Portuguese superstar gesturing to fans to calm down as they yelled and screamed for an autograph from the United legend.

A recent video shows Ronaldo gesturing to fans at ‘Calma’ during an autograph session

Ronaldo took his iconic ‘Calma’ celebration from Madrid’s 2012 El Clasico victory

The video shows Ronaldo signing a fan’s shirt as supporters around him continued to shout his name and hold out pens and memorabilia for him to sign.

The attacker looks up at the crowd before raising both hands – somewhat different from his iconic Camp Nou party – and gesturing to the fans to ‘Calma’.

The former Real Madrid striker doesn’t say a word after the hand signal and just moves on to the next person in line.

Some fans immediately understood the message Ronaldo was trying to send as ‘Calma! Calm!’ be heard from behind the camera.

Barcelona fans whistle and mock the man from Madrid throughout the encounter

Ronaldo reused the iconic party he performed after scoring the winner against Madrid’s fierce rivals in 2012.

In the match, Madrid had taken the lead thanks to an effort from Sami Khedira in the 17th minute before Barcelona’s Alexis Sánchez equalized in the second half.

But of course Ronaldo had to have the last word that night. In the 73rd minute he ran on a through ball from Mesut Ozil and his effort passed Victor Valdes.

Immediately, Madrid’s number 7 turned to the fans and motioned for them to be quiet – given their cheers and whistles at Los Blancos throughout the match.

Despite his struggles both on and off the pitch for United this year, Ronaldo is clearly still adored by United fans.

Last month, the attacker got into an argument with manager ten Hag after he refused to use a substitute during their 2-0 win over Tottenham in the competition. He was subsequently dropped from the first team squad.

Ronaldo has made amends with the former Ajax coach and has been re-instated by United and has started his last two games for the Red Devils.

The 37-year-old hopes he can once again lead the United front line when they travel to Real Sociedad in the Europa League tomorrow night.
