Creepy green box is discovered hidden in the Blue Mountains

A mysterious, locked green box has been found in the Blue Mountains, and many Australians are guessing what could be inside.

A photo of the box was shared on Reddit on Monday and was found by a curious Australian at the bottom of a hiking trail in Katoomba, western Sydney.

The box is concealed in forest green camouflage and blends in perfectly with the trees and surrounding bushland nestled deep in the Jamison Valley.

‘What’s in the box?’ they captioned the photo.

“It’s locked and chained to a tree in the Dardanelles Pass, at the bottom of the Giant Stairway.”

Reddit users speculated about what could be inside.

“It’s full of tools for working on the railway, only donkeys would mess with them because the workers have to carry them in and out every day.”

Meanwhile, others offered some very creative guesses about what the object might contain.

Some joked that it could contain “body parts,” “ammunition” or a “defense system.”

Others suggested it might be a geocache. A geocache is like a hidden treasure chest, usually containing a logbook and sometimes small trading items.

People all over the world hide these boxes outside, and others use GPS devices to hunt for them as part of a realistic adventure game.
