Nick Kyrgios has teased he could transfer Australia’s national loyalty to Greece in a social media post that has got the internet talking.

Kyrgios, 28, was born in Canberra to a Greek father and Malaysian mother, and has represented Australia since joining the professional tour as a prodigious teenager.

The explosive tennis star has endured a love-hate relationship with the Australian public during his rollercoaster career, with his antics dividing opinion across the country.

And in a surprise post on Instagram alongside arch-rival and Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas, Kyrgios said: “Things could look good for team Greece soon.”

Thanasi Kokkinakis, who also has a Greek background, was pictured saying: “Trouble…” alongside a laughing emoji.

Women’s tennis player Paula Badosa, who is dating Tsitsipas, replied with a heart eyes emoji and a laughing emoji.
