Coronation Street’s Damon Hay is set to make an explosive return to the cobbles as he holds his love rival Adam Barlow at gunpoint.
The former gangster, played by Ciaran Griffiths, had an affair with Sarah Barlow, played by Tina O’Brien, and in scenes set to air next year he takes it upon himself to deal with her husband Adam, played by Sam Robertson.
Photos from the dramatic scenes show Damon standing in a parking lot with his accomplice while violently waving a gun around.
Adam can’t see the commotion as he sits hunched over in fear, his hands tied and a bag over his head.
Corrie producer Ian MacLeod previously revealed that Damon’s return will be driven by a thirst for revenge against Adam.

The soap boss also revealed that the gangster has been pining for Sarah for months.
Ian said The sun: ‘I felt there was a very intense feeling between the two, there was a real natural chemistry and connection, and he comes back with kind of a two-pronged plan.
“(But) as the situation falters, Damon’s revenge may take a back seat to his feelings for Sarah.”
He continued that Adam will feel increasingly uneasy about Damon’s return and his potential interest in Sarah, so in order to protect her he starts to think about the idea of wanting to get rid of Damon and pave the way for a shocking murder plot and the reemergence of Will’s character. .
As Damon begins to calm down, Adam’s obsession with removing him grows, leading him to approach villain Harvey Gaskell (played by Will Mellor), who also makes an explosive return to the show.
Harvey, who shares Adam’s dislike for Damon, considers forming an unconventional alliance to tackle their mutual problem.
They believe that by working together they can find a solution to Damon’s predicament.
The dramatic scenes will air early next year and Iain confirmed that viewers should be very excited about the storyline.

He said: ‘It has fantastic actors, as in all our stories, the storyline is packed with twists and excitement.’
Will, who is best known for his role in Two Pints of Lager, took on the menacing drug lord last year.
Speaking about joining the Weatherfield cast at the time, Will said: ‘I’m honored to have been asked to join Coronation Street, it’s such an iconic show and has been a huge part of my family life.
‘When I started acting 32 years ago, it was my mother’s dream to star in Corrie, so I’m glad I can finally make it come true. It’s a Manchester institution and as a Manchester actor this is definitely a ticked box.
‘Harvey is the first real villain I’ve ever played. It’s a very different kind of role for me, so I’m looking forward to sinking my teeth into the character and making some waves.”
