Former North Melbourne star Wayne Carey appears to be dipping his toes into a new career.
Carey is widely regarded as one of the greatest footy players who graced the game and led the Kangaroos to two premiership titles before leaving the club in 2001. In 2004 he hung up his boots after a spell with the Crows, before moving on to work with Carlton as a skills coach and later enjoy several successful roles in the media.
Carey has worked as a commentator on Friday Night Football, appeared on panels on Channel Seven and also worked as a columnist for The Age.
The former half-forward, who was also voted the AFL’s greatest ever player in an extensive list of the competition’s best players, was also a regular on Triple M’s The Rush Hour but was sacked by the broadcaster in 2022 and moved from his roles at Channel Seven and The Age.
However, Carey appears to be making moves in the real estate industry.
The ex-Kangaroos half-forward was spotted in one video published Thursday on YouTube by Mark O’Brien Real Estate promoting the sale of a luxury home in Heathcote Junction, Victoria.
Located at 95N Mountain Road, the sprawling home is on the market for approximately $1.8 million – $1.98 million and comes with its own pub and outdoor spa.
Carey steps into the picture to introduce the property and is seen walking down the driveway to the five-bedroom property which also comes with a self-contained bungalow.
Carey, who scored 727 goals in 272 games during his professional career, was impressed by the splendor of the house, which is listed by O’Brien Real Estate consultant John Rombotis.
The former North Melbourne star described the home as “unique” before adding: “I keep saying that word unique, but that’s exactly what this property is. This is one out of the box. Absolutely beautiful.’
The property is decorated with beautiful wooden walls and ceilings, making you feel like you are in a mountain hut. There is also a beautiful water feature in the house, and the property is just an hour’s drive from Melbourne’s CBD.

However, this is not the first time that Carey has been seen working in the real estate world.
In 2023, the former footy star had also appeared in a video promoting a property in North Melbourne.
Carey has been involved in several controversies during his career, including an alleged affair with a teammate’s wife in 2002.
Recently, Carey had shocked controversial footy identity Sam Newman by revealing he had made a change in his life.
The pair discussed their thoughts on Welcome to Country in Newman’s “Are You Serious?” podcast, when Carey made the comment.
Newman started ranting about Welcome to Country during the episode, but Carey backtracked and admitted he wasn’t bothered by the discussions. He stated that he worked with a professional who made him realize not to worry about things he had no control over.
“I know you’re very passionate about this Sam, and I’ve been listening to your comments about it,” Carey said.
“I’m kind of working with a lady, and I’ve been doing that for a while.
‘People may be surprised, but I’m constantly working on myself.
‘I’m speaking to a lady called Tess, Tess Mallett is her name and she’s a life coach. Not a psychologist, but there is psychology involved, I think.

‘It’s about working on yourself. And you know what? Things like for yourself: Welcome to Country and other things.
‘Do I think this should happen to me for everything, everywhere and always? Probably not.
‘But does it bother me? No, that’s not true.
‘There is actually nothing in the world – and this is purely because I have been working on myself in this area – that really makes me angry.
“Whether it’s an individual or something like Welcome to Country, whatever it may be, I just let people have their own emotions about it.
“I’m not judging you based on your opinion of it, but I’m not going to let it upset me.”
