Conservative Republicans threaten to KICK Marjorie Taylor Greene out of group: GOP members want to purge House Freedom Caucus members they feel are getting too close to the ‘establishment’
- MTG has reportedly annoyed other members of the House Freedom Caucus
- They worry she’s too close to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy
Hardline Republicans are reportedly discussing a purge of their House Freedom Caucus group, expelling members they believe have become too friendly with party leaders or are not doing enough to promote the group’s goals.
The Freedom Caucus prides itself on being the rightmost of the congressional factions and delights in bomb-throwing tactics.
Among its members is Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Trump loyalist who has spread QAnon conspiracy theories, suggested 9/11 was a hoax and accused the Clintons of murder.
None of those things were disqualifications when she rose to prominence within the Freedom Caucus, but now she’s committed a far greater sin in the eyes of her right-wing associates: getting too close to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

But Greene is accused of getting too close to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, leading some members of the caucus to ask that she be expelled from the group
It reported that at least two hardliners have proposed evicting anyone who no longer meets the group’s standards.
Among the offenders who emerged in the discussions is Greene, who some believe is too closely aligned with McCarthy and sometimes too publicly critical of the group.
Others have been criticized for simply being inactive.
But Freedom Caucus Chair Rep. Scott Perry turned down the requests. At least for now, as the group has struggled with its role since Donald Trump left office and after the bitter allegations of the long-winded parliamentary presidential election.
“The race of the speaker, there was a disagreement. There were disagreements about the debt ceiling. And we had to get 80 percent on every major issue on which we take positions,” said Representative Ralph Norman (RS.C.), a member of the Freedom Caucus, referring to the threshold the group needed to take a unified position. to take.
“We failed to get there on a number of major points.
“We are now at a critical point.”

In addition, Greene is involved in a nasty argument with Rep. Lauren Boebert, on their competing resolutions to impeach President Joe Biden.
She called her fellow caucus member a “bitch” on Wednesday when the chamber met for votes.
“I defended her when she was attacked. She and I have pretty much the same voting habits. We’re both members of the House Freedom Caucus,” Greene said afterwards when asked if she had used the b-word.
We should be natural allies. It shouldn’t be easy, but for some reason she has great skill and talent to make most people here dislike her. And so it’s her problem. She needs to work on it.”
