The acting world is in mourning Monday with the news of the passing of beloved actress Cindy Williams.

The actress, best known for her role as Shirley Feeney on the hit sitcom Laverne & Shirley, has died at the age of 75 after a brief illness, according to access point.

His children, Zak and Emily Hudson, released a statement through family spokeswoman Liza Cranis.

‘Knowing her and loving her has been our joy and privilege. She was unique, beautiful, generous, and she possessed a brilliant sense of humor and a bright spirit that everyone loved,” the statement concluded.

Williams was born in Los Angeles in 1947 and spent her childhood writing and acting at Birmingham High School, where she was a classmate of Sally Field and Michael Ovitz.
