Christina Applegate’s stylist is singing her praises after helping her prepare for her show-stopping performance on Monday night at the 2024 Emmy Awards.

The 52-year-old Dead To Me star brought the crowd to their feet as she walked on stage in a stunning red velvet dress.

The actress had host Anthony Anderson on her arm, and she brought along a walking stick to help keep herself stable as she dealt with the physical symptoms of her 2021 multiple sclerosis diagnosis.

In-demand celebrity stylist Adir Abergel helped Christina achieve her glamorous award show look, and he was thrilled People Tuesday that he was amazed that his client “still cares so much despite her current health problems.”

Abergel told how he worked with fashion designer Christian Siriano – who created Christina’s elegant outfit – to get her ready for her big appearance.

‘Preparing for big events can be overwhelming. I focused on being present and enjoying every moment together,” said the stylist, who was also assisted during the preparation session by Christina’s makeup artist Simone Siegl and her stylist Lindsay Flores.

He noted that he perfected Christina’s hair at her home before the ceremony, but also accompanied her backstage for final adjustments.

‘We had fun!’ he said of the evening. “Christina and I have been friends for a long time and she is someone I love very much.”

Abergel added, “It was very important for me to stand up for her that night.”

He explained that Siriano’s timeless dress inspired him to turn to another classic style icon to create the “sleek and shiny Veronica Lake-inspired hair moment.”

Like the 1940s movie star, Christina wore her long blonde locks to the side and resting dramatically over her shoulder, although Abergel did not create as dramatic a peek-a-boo effect as Lake is known for.

Despite the importance of Christina’s performance at the awards show, she and her style team managed to keep their session relaxed.

“We were chilling, laughing and watching Real Housewives Of New York,” Abergel revealed. “It was like catching up with my best friend.”

He then described Christina as “iconic.”

“I just think about the tremendous contributions she has given us over the years, and how she continues to give so much!” he gushed. “Her career, her work ethic, inspire me deeply.”

On Instagram, he shared some photos of Christina at home in her beautiful looks before heading to the Emmys.

“My dear friend, the beautiful Christina Applegate today for The Emmys. It was definitely a day to remember…,” he captioned the photos, adding a black heart emoji at the end.

Christina’s appearance on Monday night was a triumphant return to public life for the actress, as she has not been seen on an awards show red carpet since the SAG Awards in February last year, although she has made smaller public appearances since then.

A bank Vanity fair In an interview last May, Christina said that she has functionally retired from acting.

“I’m probably not going to work on camera anymore,” she said, attributing the decision to physical problems resulting from her MS, although she left open the possibility of continuing with voiceover work.

However, it’s unclear whether her return to the Emmys stage could signal a change of heart.

Christina was diagnosed with MS in August 2021 while filming the third and final season of her Netflix series Dead To Me, which also stars Linda Cardellini and James Marsden.

In 2021, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis while filming Dead To Me. Due to reduced mobility and medications, she has gained 40 pounds, and she now uses a cane to walk

She revealed that the condition made it difficult for her to walk without a cane, and that the mobility problems contributed to her gaining 40 pounds shortly after the flare-up, although the medications she was taking also affected the weight gain.

During her critically acclaimed Emmy performance, Christina joked about her standing ovation.

‘Thank you so much. Oh my God, you’re totally shaming me because I have a disability by standing up,” she joked, before adding, “It’s fine.”

She got another laugh when she joked, “Body not by Ozempic.”

WHAT IS MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS?

Multiple sclerosis (known as MS) is a condition in which the immune system attacks the body and causes nerve damage to the brain and spinal cord.

It is an incurable, lifelong condition. Symptoms can be mild in some and more extreme in others, causing severe disability.

MS affects 2.3 million people worldwide, including around a million in the US and 100,000 in Britain.

It occurs more than twice as often in women as in men. Usually someone between the ages of twenty and thirty is diagnosed.

The condition is more commonly diagnosed in people of European descent.

The cause is not clear. There may be genes associated with it, but it is not directly hereditary. Smoking and low vitamin D levels have also been linked to MS.

Symptoms include fatigue, difficulty walking, vision problems, bladder problems, numbness or tingling, muscle stiffness and spasms, problems with balance and coordination, and problems with thinking, learning, and planning.

The majority of patients will have periods of symptoms that go away and come back, while some have symptoms that gradually worsen over time.

Symptoms can be managed with medication and therapy.

The condition shortens the average life expectancy by about five to ten years.
