“I wanted to celebrate the 25th anniversary of my debut album in a way that brought together the past and the present,” she told Rolling Stone. “I’ve always enjoyed re-imagining my songs with different styles and audiences, and playing with sounds and arrangements that show how all music can be timeless.”
In addition to MGK’s help, the mother of two also collaborated with Sabrina Carpenter on one of the tracks.
She called recording this project “both magical and nostalgic” and reflected on some of her “fondest memories of her career.”
“I laughed, I cried, I reconnected with old friends and I made some very special new friends,” she continued. “I hope this anniversary gift is as special for you to look at as it was for me to make.”
Christina’s first career began when she competed on Star Search, before being selected for The All-New Mickey Mouse Club.
After Christina hung up her mouse ears in 1996, she recorded the theme song for the Disney film Mulan. The following year, she rose to fame with her self-titled debut album.

According to Variety, Christina has now signed with 5020 Records, a Latin American record label based in Miami.
Neither the singer nor her former or new record label have spoken publicly about the change, but a spokesperson for 5020 confirmed that Christina has signed with the label.
Fans have been speculating about the label change in recent months, when the 5020 logo appeared on her website.
Her name has been quietly removed from the artist page of the RCA website, officially ending their 26-year collaboration.
Christina was discovered by RCA executive Ron Fair after he heard her demo cover of Whitney Houston’s Run It to You in 1997.
The $1 million the label invested in Christina paid off when her first single Genie In a Bottle was released in May 1999.
The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for five weeks and became the second best-selling single of 1999, behind Cher’s Believe.
Her self-titled album debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 album chart and became the ninth best-selling album that year.
The album sold over 10 million copies in its first year and went eight times platinum, winning a Grammy for Best New Artist.
